News from Mrs. Day & Mrs. Stasney
For the week of January 27th
Progress Reports
We are already halfway through the 4th six weeks! Students will bring progress reports home on Wednesday. Please sign and return to school after you have reviewed your child's grades.
Old Man Winter
He seems to keep hanging around! Please keep a close eye on weather forecasts and weather conditions this week and every week. More ice/sleet/snow is expected Tuesday! Please help your child dress accordingly. This kind of weather requires more than just a hoodie or a sweatshirt!
KBTX and social media will announce any delays or closings we may have due to the weather. We will also try to email you as soon as we are notified of any delays or closings affecting Creek View.
Dismissal Changes
If your child is changing the way he/she is going home, please notify the school directly. You can send a hand-written note with your child, you can email us, or you can call the front office. We have to have some sort of direct communication with you before we can allow a child to dismiss a different way from his/her normal routine. Your child telling us that you said that they were going home differently is not sufficient. It's our job to keep all of the students safe!
Science Projects
This week in science (starting on Wednesday), the students are going to be working in groups to create models of rapid changes to the Earth's surface. These models will include a volcano, earthquake, landslide, and tornado. If you have any of the following items that you can donate to our projects, please send them to school with your child:
-empty 2 liter bottles
-shoe boxes
-marbles (will be returned)
-baking soda
-play-doh or modeling clay (homemade or store-bought)
Absences
Remember, if your child is absent from school, please send a note with a parent signature to the school explaining why he/she was absent. This will allow the absence to be considered "excused" and your child will be able to make up any work he/she might have missed while being gone. Without a note with a parent signature, the absence is "unexcused" and students are given zeros for work they miss.
