Sydenham PS
January 11, 2021
Dear Sydenham Familes,
We hope this newsletter finds you well. We had hoped that this week would see the return of in- person learning, but understand the need for the extension of remote learning for the next two weeks.
We are so impressed by the efforts of our educators, students and families at home as they 'whirled' into remote learning again. (Yes, we did use a thesaurus to look for a word other than 'pivoted'; 'whirled' seemed to be a good fit!) We encourage students to engage as much as possible remotely, and educators will continue to provide schedules of the learning activities and assignments through their remote classrooms. Congratulations on a great first week - give yourselves a pat on the back for your efforts! We will get through all the messy bits and glitches together and we will keep on learning!
If you find you need a device from the school to support your child's learning, we continue to support these requests. Please reach out to your child's educator or to the school and we will make arrangements to deploy the needed technology.
Thank you for your continued support! We look forward to when we can welcome the students back to in-person school. Until then, we enjoy seeing all your smiles on-line!
Stay safe,

Family Literacy Day - January 27th
Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development and improving a child’s literacy skills.
Family Literacy Day 2021 Theme: Travel the World Together!
Families may be restricted on their travel these days, but that doesn't prevent anyone from using their imagination to go exploring and travel the world together as a family – you never know what you’ll learn! Plan your dream trip, learn about another culture and open your mind to the world.
