From the Desk of Dr. Ricks
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at Grace!
The Pre K Hall boasts beautiful snowglobe ornaments made by the children, and their torn-paper construction Santas are really unique and artistic. Hallway bulletin boards have stained glass windows and the nativity story as written by Elementary Student. The Polar Express is soon to ride into school and Middle School students are keeping up with their Daily Christmas Kindness journals. Music students are practicing carols and songs for various performances. All classes have had amazing field trips and are serving a variety of non-profits and outreach ministries.
On Wednesday, the Commons Room was filled with social studies fair projects. The judges were impressed with the quality of our students’ work and with our students’ ability to explain their projects. I know that these projects do demand time and energy at home and are perhaps not parents’ favorite event of the year, but they do serve valuable educational purposes and help our students prepare for high school. Thanks to Mrs. Dillard, Mrs. Posey, and Mr. Nickelson for their work to help the students undertake and complete these large-scale projects.
As the temperatures now turn cold, please remember to send your child to school with a jacket or sweat shirt.
Even in quite cold weather we generally go outside at least briefly in order to allow the students to have physical activity. Make sure that names are written in outerwear to help us get lost items back to their owners!
We are excited to announce that Mrs. Ginger Knight, who directs the Grace Makerspace, has been selected as an Educator Who Shapes the Delta! This is quite an honor, and along with 15 other teachers and professionals, Mrs. Knight has been recognized out of over a hundred applicants because of her innovative approach to teaching creative problem solving. Way to go Ginger!
Have a wonderful weekend!
