Brought to you by the Shepard Elementary PTA
From our Principal
Dear Parents,
This evening we will have our 2nd Principals’ Roundtable. It is a time for the Principals and parents to come together to share ideas, questions, suggestions and concerns. Our topic will be discipline, positive reinforcements and campus to community communication. We will have time for a Q&A session. Our counselor, Mrs. Christenson, will have a parent education class immediately following the Principals’ Roundtable. The topic will be how to teach your child responsibility around the house.
We hope you can join us for these events. We appreciate your support and partnership.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Proposed PTA Bylaws Amendment
The December meeting of the Shepard Elementary PTA membership will be held on December 15th at 6 pm (before the choir concert) in the cafeteria. As part of the regular business conducted at this meeting, we will vote on the following proposed amendments to the Shepard Elementary PTA Bylaws:
1) Article V, Section 2. Dues.
A. Annual dues for each member shall be eight dollars and fifty cents ($8.50) for the local portion of dues plus state dues as determined by PTA and national dues as determined by National PTA. Annual dues for each couple (family) shall be twenty dollars and fifty cents ($20.50) for the local portion of dues plus state dues as determined by PTA and national dues as determined by National PTA. Annual dues for each Shepard staff member shall be six dollars and fifty cents ($6.50) for the local portion of dues plus state dues as determined by PTA and national dues as determined by National PTA.
This amendment, if approved, would increase our PTA dues to $13.00 for a single membership and $25.00 for a "2 family member" membership. Our staff membership would remain at $11.00. Our PTA dues have not been increased since 2010.

Thank you to all the families who gave to the Food Drive!
We exceeded our goal of collecting 1,000 cans…together we collected 1,085 cans! Awesome! Together we can and together we DID.
That means that our principals will take a PIE TO THE FACE at Monday Morning Assembly on January 23!
Here is some information from the district about the food drive. WE contributed to these numbers. Thank you!
57 campuses and 3 facility sites participated, with a total of almost 104,000 food items collected - over 3,000 MORE than last year!
Here’s some fun math which demonstrates what this amount of food collected means in real numbers:
5.5 CANS FEED ONE PERSON FOR ONE DAY, SO . . .
103,720 CANS COLLECTED =
ONE PERSON COULD EAT FOR 18,858 DAYS (OR almost 52 YEARS); or
ONE FAMILY OF 4 COULD EAT FOR 4,715 DAYS (OR almost 13 YEARS): or
157 FAMILIES OF 4 WILL EAT FOR 30 DAYS =
PISD’S donations will feed about 629 people for 30 days!
