K.S. OLIVER
Author, Poet & Motivational Speaker
Who is K.S. Oliver?
K.S. Oliver is an author, poet, public speaker, model and business owner who was born in New York and raised in Georgia. She is blazing a trail that many have been inspired by. The oldest of eleven children, K.S. graduated from Georgia Medical Institute with a diploma in Medical Billing and Coding in 2005 as well as Colorado Technical College in 2011 with an a degree in Business (while minoring in Criminal Justice) and followed on to a Bachelors while currently working on her Masters in Criminal Justice as well.. Since then, she’s been moving forward with building a unique and touching legacy.
On May 20, 2010, following the birth of her youngest child, K.S. was diagnosed with SLE, also known as Lupus. Subsequently, she was also diagnosed with Discoid Lupus (Skin Lupus), Fibromyalgia, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Hypotension, Hypothyroids, Cricoarytenoiditis and Severe depression. With a myriad of health issues staring her in the face at the age of 25, K.S. had to make a decision on whether she would allow it to consume her or fight for the life she and her family deserved to enjoy. The choice soon turned into a mantra commonly used when discussing her life:” I have Lupus. Lupus doesn’t have me.”
Taking her life story and using it to inspire others, K.S. has penned two poetry books dedicated to building a connection from one Lupie to another and helping others to understand the emotions and trials that a Lupus patient may endure. Still Standing and Affectionately 360 are poetic gems that are touching for patients of any kind, but also speak to the hearts of every individual who reads them. In 2013, K.S. was awarded as Poet of the Year for her outstanding contributions to the field of poetry.
In 2014 K.S. released her first novel, FLATLINED: Almost Doesn’t Count, which was inspired by her truth. FLATLINED was ceremoniously released on the four (4) year anniversary of her diagnosis. She decided to take a leap and let the world read her rhymes of reason due to several people suggesting that she share her complete story after experiencing fragments of her memories via her poetry.
Despite the plethora of times that she’s been cut, poked, jabbed, hospitalized, and operated on K.S. is not only still standing, but she is constantly thriving. In 2011 she created her first business entity, Events by Ebonee', which prides itself on cultivating quality, memorable events at affordable rates throughout the Atlanta area. True to her literary passion and experience, in 2014 K.S. started her own publishing company, Diamante' Publications along with her husband , in which her star only began to shine brighter within the literary community.
With all of her success and accomplishments, K.S.’s greatest achievement is centered on her two sons, Sha’Kwan and K’Shaun. Through everything she does, she incorporates the children including her literary ventures. In 2013 the boys released their first book Through Our Eyes, a glimpse into the life of a Lupie kid.
With each year that passes, K.S. finds more innovative ways to reach and touch the masses with her powerful story of strength and overcoming. Via interviews, book signings, meet and greets, modeling opportunities, and simply networking, she is able to increase awareness and expand her love for helping others. God’s amazing grace has spared her from death more times than any one person deserves and even still she is here continuing to walk in his glory.
