Bear Bulletin
Maire newsletter: April 18th edition
Dear Maire Families
This is a difficult time right now in the Grosse Pointe community. The Blue Ribbon Committee has finished its work of providing feedback and input on the potential of school closures. This committee has acted as a focus group for the district, evaluating the opportunities and challenges with each scenario. Now each school will host a Town Hall Meeting so that the community has an opportunity to ask questions or voice concerns. Maire will have our Town Hall on Thursday, May 9th. Ultimately, the Board of Education will make the decisions. Nothing will come into place until the 2020-2021 school year at the earliest. While we are going through this process, if you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If I don’t know the answer, I will connect you with someone who does.
Here at Maire we are going to continue to focus on our number one priority: the kids. We will continue to work hard, continue to challenge them academically, and continue to focus on the social and emotional needs of our students. We have two months left in this school year and we will work hard each and every day for our students.
Sincerely,
Ryan Francis,
Principal

- Students are expected to remove caps, hats and hoods in the building

Have a Kindergarten or Young 5 student next Fall
Establish / Verify Residency Now!
It is critical that families establish or verify residency by May 1st if they have a student entering GPPSS next fall, particularly for Kindergarten and Young Fives. Click here to see the pre-enrollment process (step one) and the residency documents (step two) required by board policy. Call 313-432-3083 if you have questions or need an appointment outside the enrollment office hours of 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday.
All Kindergarteners & Young 5's registered by May 1st will be eligible to attend a fun Transition to Kindergarten event here, May 8th!
The Transition to Kindergarten appointment is simply an opportunity to welcome each of our new students into our buildings and gives us a snapshot of your child’s learning needs. Each registered child that attends this event will be awarded a learning backpack with goodies to support summer learning!
