Core Training Series

What is the Core Training Series?
The Core trainings are a series of lessons offered exclusively for WestCare California staff and presented by WestCare California's Clinical Director, Kathy Hayden, LMFT, featuring fundamentals for AOD Counselors, Counselor Tech's, Admissions Specialists, Case Managers, Mental Health Clinicians and other interested WestCare California staff. These lessons include: Assessment & Treatment Planning, Documentation, Legal & Ethical Issues, Co-Occurring Disorders, Motivational Interviewing and Crisis Intervention. CEU's will be awarded for attended trainings.
Our next session will be offered from May 25th - July 6th.
Some trainings are mandatory for staff depending on the course offered (See schedule). Dates and times are subject to change.
Attendance must be cleared with your supervisor prior to registering.
All Core trainings will be held at WestCare California Administration's Training Room

- Class #1/6 - May 25, 2018: Assessment & Treatment Planning (6.5 CEU's), 8:30 am - 4:00 pm,
Mandatory for: AOD Counselors, Admissions Specialists, Clinical Interns and Mental Health Clinicians. This training must be attended before attending the Service Documentation training.

- Class #2/6 - June 1, 2018: Service Documentation (5 CEU's), 8:30 am - 2:30 pm, Mandatory for: AOD Counselors, Counselor Tech's, Admissions Specialists, Clinical Interns and Mental Health Clinicians. The Assessment & Treatment Planning training must be attended before attending this training, with the exception of Counselor Tech's.

About Your Trainer
Kathy Hayden is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with 35 years of experience as a mental health clinician with public service populations in California, Montana and Alaska. She currently serves as Clinical Director for WestCare California, has a small private practice and is an adjunct professor in the MFT program at National University. She has extensive experience training a variety of health care and social service providers on mental health and substance abuse issues impacting individuals and families and takes particular interest in encouraging and supporting excellence in services for persons with co-occurring disorders.
