Hooverville History
Hoovervilles are small shanty towns, located on the outskirts of cities, according to History.com. These common and, at the time, growing houses were ironically named after President Hoover, who was highly blamed for the depression. Even though he had the chance, he didn't help the citizens that were in debt, or even those who had starving children.

Repairs
This man is putting a bit of weight on the roof to hold the tarps down from the wind, which wasn't blocked outside of the city. This only made it feel colder.
The City outskirts
This picture is to show how close the huts were to the city borders.
Motivation
This "motivational" poster is clearly separating the two "groups" of men during the Great Depression. Political Posters were all over the place, and some were never helpful.

Unhappy Hoover
This picture is of President Hoover: He is looking at all of the money he has taken from people, but is still not happy.
Breaking the Bank
You see just how fragile the bank was. It could be foreclosed by just one person making a withdrawal...of everything.
Roosevelt
People were counting on Roosevelt to rise them up and out of the depression.
Hoover... Well
Hoover on the other hand, didn't capture many votes. People just "loved" him so much, he was left behind.
By a Landslide!
Roosevelt, who at the time was a governor, was in the lead. In the month of November, he won against Hoover by a landslide. I don't know why, I mean, Hoover only sent an army to veterans who didn't pay, then went on strike! He seemed like a pretty reasonable guy. But, as promised, President Roosevelt started filling dirt into the deep hole of debt Hoover left behind. What really sped this process up, was the start of WWII, which eventually pulled America out of the worst depression in history.
