Cardinal Parents, Students, and Staff:
"You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy."
If you're waiting around for the day to come when life gets easy, you might find yourself waiting forever. The challenges, obstacles, and hardships of life are constantly presenting themselves, especially when we're striving for something more. The goal is not to avoid hardships; instead, the goal is to develop the strength to overcome them.
Let's do this! Cardinal Strong!
- Feb 13: What is your biggest regret?
- Feb 14: What is a bad habit you have that you’d like to change?
- Feb 15: What is one thing you’d like to change about the world?
- Feb 16: What are you most passionate about?
- Feb 17: What life lesson have you learned the hard way?
Hey, Cards!
- Mid-Winter Break: No school Feb 20 - 24. Enjoy!
- Beware the galloping hooves / Beware the cries in the night / When the Headless Horseman rides / You'll probably die of fright!!! The FPHS Drama club is proud to present The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The show opens tonight at 6:30 pm, with additional performances on tomorrow, February 11th and Friday and Saturday, February 17th & 18th at 6:30 pm as well. Admission is $2 for FP Students and $5 general admission. Hope to see you there!
- Seniors: Mar 21 and 22 -- Attendance at Fall and Spring SLCs along with completion of Senior Checklist are required to earn credit for Advisory.
- There has been an increase in private vehicles using the bridge over 512 connecting Ford Middle School and Franklin Pierce High School. This is a private bridge that is intended for bus traffic only. Starting this week, we will be locking the gates to prevent vehicles from entering both campuses. We realize that this may cause an inconvenience for students and families, but believe that this an important step to monitor visitor traffic and secure our campuses from individuals not associated with our school community.

Staff Spotlight:
Name: Matt Price
My Role at FPHS: Food Justice in Action Teacher – at the Farm! (off campus)
Hobbies: Playing music, riding my bike, native plant propagation
Favorite Book: Emergent Strategy – adrienne marie brown
Favorite Quote: “All Revolution is based on Land” – Malcom X
Staff Spotlight:
Name: Crystal Fagering
My Role at FPHS: In working in the support Center, my role is to assist the teachers in the education of the students as well as supporting the students as they face daily challenges by overcoming obstacles, encouraging perseverance when they want to give up and modeling positive choices and actions. Watching them reach milestones scholastically and in daily living skills is priceless. When they find their dignity, they grow in confidence. Helping them learn the skills they will need to be functioning adults is something I am very proud and honored to be a part of.
Hobbies: I LOVE arts and crafts. I could do them forever and not get tired of them. I also love camping, walking and hanging out during free time with my husband & two teenage boys.
Favorite Book: The Bible is my favorite book. It is often has a rep for being boring and ancient. But there's countless adventurous stories, lessons to be learned and great advice to live by that I can apply to my everyday life.
Favorite Quote: It's hard to have just one. There are so many good quotes. Here are two:
- "The will of God will never take you to where the grace of God will not protect you" by Bernadette Devlin
- "If you can see it, you can achieve it, God helps those who help themselves. Power is in the act of humility" By Patricia Amis
STAMP Language Testing:
- Do you speak, read and write a language other than English?
- Are you interested in earning up to four World Language elective credits?
- Do you want the Seal of Biliteracy on your diploma? (future employers love multilingual employees!)
If the answer is, "yes", you are in luck. We are offering the STAMP World Language Proficiency Test Feb 27- March 3 in the library. If you interested, email Ms. Movrich jmovrich@fpschools.org, or stop by room 202 to sign up! Deadline for sign up is Monday, February 13.

CARDINAL SPORTS!
Sportsmanship reminder to all sports fans: This is a reminder about good sportsmanship for our fans. If you are attending an FP sporting event, your role as a fan is to support our team. We should only be cheering for the Cardinals and never cheering against the other team, the other team’s fans, or the officials. The official statement in the SPSL 2A handbook is, “Show pride, class, spirit, and respect. Display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat. Enjoy the game and promote good sportsmanship. Please keep your comments positive, let the players play, coaches coach, and the officials officiate.” Repeated displays of poor sportsmanship will result in exclusion from sporting events.
- FP Spirit Gear Still Available Stop by the Cashier's Office during your lunches, before school, or after school to pick up your FP spirit gear. T Shirts and Sweatshirts are still available. Also, be on the lookout for your chance to own a Franklin Pierce football jersey of your own. Football will be selling used Jerseys for fans to have and wear when supporting ALL of our teams.

NEW Performing Arts Center!
We are very excited about our new Performance Arts Center! We are in eager anticipation of the day that we can fully showcase the talents of our band, orchestra, choir, drama programs, and so much more!
- Part of the "cost" for a new Performing Arts Center is going to be a little dust, a lot of change, and even a few inconveniences. Please, bear with us as we work through the "under construction" phase with an estimated completion date of the start of the 2023-24 school year.
- Student and Staff Parking: All staff and students must park together in the parking lot alongside 112th St. The section nearest the tennis courts is reserved for staff parking. The section nearest the stadium is reserved for student parking. Students and staff must drive all the way around the school to access the new student/staff parking lot. Please, do not cut through the drop-off and pick-up zone to park.
- AM student drop-off and PM student pick-up and zones. Please, do not park in the drop-off and pick-up zones between 7:30am and 3pm. The drop-off and pick-up zones will be the same for 2022-23 as they were for the end of 2021-22.
- Main Entrance: The former main entrance to the building is no longer accessible. The new main entrance is on the south end of the main building near the student pick-up and drop-off zone.
- Handicapped Parking has been relocated to the stalls in the drop-off zone nearest the new main entrance.
- Bicycle Parking has been relocated to the 1400 building (outside the band classroom).
- Pedestrians in the drop-off and pick-up zone should use the pedestrian walkway along the fence line.
- As with all construction projects, almost everything is subject to change. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
