Plan on Traveling?
We continue to recommend avoiding all non-essential travel at this time.
Remember that wherever you go, you should always follow public health guidelines - the 3 Ws - to reduce your risk of getting and spreading COVID-19:
- Wear a mask
- Wash your hands
- Watch your distance
- NEW: Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home for seven days after travel. Even with a negative test, travelers should stay home for the full 7 days.
- If you do not get tested, it is safest to stay home for 10 days after travel.
This is not a mandatory quarantine or public health order.
Zooming is only allowed for those quarantining due to symptoms or have been exposed to a positive case, not after travel. Activities will be accessible in SeeSaw and Schoology if you choose to quarantine.
Spelling Bee
Zooming/Absence (In-Person Only)
Zooming in a blended classroom will not be the exact same experience as their in-person peers, but it will allow for them to get exposure to the core lessons that are being taught. SeeSaw and Schoology will still be accessible to those students while they are out.
Please note that this is only for students that are in quarantine due to COVID-related circumstances (exposure to a positive case or having symptoms). A student can start zooming the following school day once the school has been made aware. This allows time for the teacher to change the materials to an electronic format and adjust their lesson plans as needed. Parents are required to notify the health office FIRST about their child staying home. From there we will notify the teachers.
Zooming in students and teaching in-person students is not an easy thing and this is something we wanted to avoid right from the beginning of the school year. This is why we made classrooms either remote or in-person. We want to limit the time teachers have to teach both environments at the same time. Therefore, we decided that zooming in was only allowed for students that were in quarantine due to having symptoms or with being exposed to a positive case.
In-Person Reminders
We want to keep students in for as long as possible. In order to do that, we need all your help in limiting the spread of COVID-19:
- Continue social distancing outside of school
- Wear a mask when you are out and about
- Do not send your child to school if showing symptoms (Refer to COVID guidelines below)
- If a household member has COVID-19 like symptoms, the student must stay home for 14 FULL calendar days from the onset of household member’s symptoms, (returning on the 15th day) OR you may return sooner if you provide a Doctor’s note with alternate diagnosis for the symptomatic household member OR provide a negative COVID-19 test result for the symptomatic household member.
Let's work together to make sure in-person learning is here to stay!
NOTE: A “RT-PCR” COVID test is required to return to school. RAPID COVID tests will not be accepted. Please request a copy of your test result to provide to School Health office.

MS&CG Victory Garden Project
Please consider being part of this year’s Millburn School & Community Garden’s food project for northern Lake County. This service project is based on a historic strategy for supporting community food and social needs. Garden Managers will guide you through the season of growing healthy, fresh produce to support food insecurity in our area.
What: Join a project to fill the garden plots with veggies and herbs by planting a raised bed; mentors are paired with each participant. You will harvest your crop throughout the season: 50% for you and 50% for the food pantry.
Where: We will be using the Grade Level Garden Beds and Community Plots located west of the elementary building. We will also include any local gardens that join us from their home spaces.
Who: Millburn Community includes staff, families, neighbors, and friends who wish to be part. Possible Project members can be: individuals, whole grade levels, classes, adults with a few students/children (MES & MMS), students, adults forming a team, scouts, any number of combinations
When: 2021 growing season - May through October. RSVP by March 19 to Regina Reynolds, project Director.
Why: Food insecurity and financial difficulties will continue this year. Victory Gardens not only provide fresh produce for the community it also helps teach the self sufficiency of being a grower, and gardening together builds a social well being which can help combat this last year’s isolation.
