Here's what's happening in MS this week!
March 9, 2020
Dear parents,
We hope to see you at conferences Thursday evening or Friday afternoon!
ENGLISH
6th Grade: Due to the snow day on Friday, story narratives are due Monday. Most students are putting the finishing touches on their story. Take a moment and read your student’s story. It should have context (background/setting), character development, a beginning, middle with a conflict/problem, an ending, dialogue and descriptive words.
7th Grade: We continue working on reading for information with the purpose of evaluating and synthesizing information. This is in preparation for an informational essay students will be working on soon. They will have to pick a historical event to research and write an essay.
8th Grade: Due to the snow day our presentations will be moved to Monday. We will begin reading The Outsiders and continue on with our grammar studies. Thursday and Friday are half days due to conferences and I hope to see you there.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We will be wrapping up our study of how trade affects people in different places of the world on Monday before moving on to discuss why people migrate among different countries. There will be a new vocabulary list posted in Google Classroom this week. The quiz will be next week on Tuesday.

7th Grade: Students are investigating how living organisms grow bigger and replace their damaged cells. This happens through the process of mitosis or cell division. Students will be observing onion cells and looking at how cells change through the stages of the cell cycle. The next quiz will be at the end of this week or early next week.

ART
This week we will get a new group of art students for the last making period. We shall do a vote and see what different mediums we want to explore.
PE 8th grade PE students had an excellent marking period. I appreciate their enthusiasm, sportsmanship, work ethic, and healthy degree of competitiveness. For those 8th grade students who have elected PE 4th marking period, I look forward to another 9 weeks together in the gymnasium.
7th/8th grade students will begin the new marking period with 2 large group games and 2 days of basketball activities. Please remind your student that they MUST participate in all activities including health related physical fitness development. (Students had their choice of elective the last marking period. Active participation in all PE activities is required.)
SINCERELY,
