MSHS Tuesday Newsday
August 10, 2021
Welcome Back from Mr. DiGrandi
I hope this finds everyone well as we begin our Summer Tuesday Newsday in preparation for a great 2021-2022 school year. We will once again go slow and steady and try to provide both meaningful and timely information to you and in our new Smores format (yes that is the program name I am not making it up!). Hopefully, this layout is a little bit more user-friendly and will help you navigate more efficiently through the information we provide weekly.
We will start with information about our summer mailer and the contact information we ask parents to complete via Portal. By the time you receive this email, we have also placed in the US Mail, a packet of information for the upcoming year, including our new bell schedule, as well as forms and handouts for you to review on safety, expectations, and the like.
As we await further school opening guidance from the NY State Department of Health, we will plan to follow current CDC guidelines that recommend in-person learning and universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status.
We will continue to actively monitor infection rates and changes in guidance.
Wishing everyone a relaxing, safe summer.
Mr. DiGrandi

MENTAL HEALTH NEWS & RESOURCES
This week's topic from childmind.org looks at how anxiety affects teenagers. On top of the symptoms of anxiety themselves -- from irritability and avoidance to extreme self-consciousness -- they explore how anxiety can lead to depression, what happens when anxious teenagers use drugs or alcohol to medicate themselves, and the best treatments for anxiety.
