Oak Ridge Family Focus
October 20th Edition
Thank you
A BIG thank you to our PTA for putting together a wonderful book fair this week and for all of our families and staff that were able to attend. Students were excited and could not stop smiling all week because they were able to get their hands on some new books. Thank you to our PTA, Oak Ridge staff, and all of our Oak Ridge families for your support and for inspiring a love of reading in our students.
Unity Day: Wednesday, October 23rd
As part of Bullying Prevention Month, Oak Ridge will celebrate Unity Day, which promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion for all students and staff. On Wednesday, we encourage everyone to wear orange as we come together as a school and community to unite against bullying.
Hickory Hills Howls Through the Hills
On Saturday, October 26th, Hickory Hills will be holding its annual Howl Through the Hills. Please see the Hickory Hills website to register and for more information. Come join us as we support our running clubs and have a great time!
Bullying Prevention Month
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying is defined as "unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time." (stopbullying.gov)
Here are some resources that will help. If you have any questions or need additional support, please contact your child's teacher or call the main office at 708-598-5713.
Have a wonderful week, and go Mustangs!

Starting at 8:30am and later, students need to be dropped off in the front of school and signed in at the main office. Thank you for your help! | Reading 20 minutes a day will go a long way! It is important that students get 20 minutes of quiet time to read (anything they would like!) at home every day. It can be shared reading with a parent or sibling, or the whole family sits down and reads their own book or magazine at the same time. Please see the infographic above to see how reading 20 minutes each day really adds up for our kids! |
