NEW YEAR, NEW FACES!
Please join me in welcoming our "new" faces to our St. Viator Family:
Debbie Barnaby:
Hi St. Viator families! I am so excited and feel very blessed to join the community this year. I will teach Religion to middle school and Physical Education to Pre-K thru 2nd grade. Prior to joining St. Viator, I taught at St. Christopher School for 24 years. I was the PE teacher for grades K-8th, and also the athletic director for the schools sports program. I taught Confirmation and was involved with the youth program for 30 years at St. Christopher Parish as well. My husband and I have two grown sons, and I am a grandma to two beautiful grandchildren. In my free time, I love being out in nature and taking hikes. I am looking forward to this school year where I can share my faith and love of physical education with others by: helping the younger students develop a strong heart through engaging their cardiovascular and muscular systems - and, also in helping the older students develop a strong heart through engaging their soul.
Jessica Blank:
Hello families! I am very excited to join St. Viator Parish School to teach first grade this year. wy family and I recently moved from Wisconsin to the Las Vegas area this Spring. Prior to moving. I taught third grade at a Catholic school in Madison. I am blessed that I get to share my faith and love for teaching every day! My husband and I have two daughters that will be in 5th and 7th grade. I have a degree in Elementary Education as well as I worked as an outdoor educator for many years. I love reading, gardening, and spending time in nature.
Monica Diaz Padilla:
Hello St. Viator families! My name is Monica and I am your new guidance counselor. I’m so excited to be a part of this community. What a blessing! Prior to joining St. Viator, I was a counselor and program developer/coordinator for former foster youth, and students experiencing homelessness, at California State University, Bakersfield. I was also a faculty member in the English department at CSUB for over twenty years. On a more personal note, I had the privilege of providing my two sons with a Catholic school education from kindergarten to graduate school and I’m honored to be able to give back to our community. In my spare time I love to workout, cook, read, spend time with my husband and three dogs, and enjoy my children. I look forward to getting to know you all and to working with your children.

ORIENTATION INFORMATION
Orientation is on Monday, August 15th from 8 AM to 12:00 PM.
You can arrive any time between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Note: This is not a school day and school uniform is not required.
When you arrive, report to the gym to check-in and purchase supplies. You may then report to your classroom to drop off all school supplies, meet your teacher, and receive your family communication folder containing Parent-Student Contracts. Please read over with your child and return it to the office by Monday, August 22nd.
SCHOOL SAFETY UPDATE
The Diocese of Las Vegas is fortunate to have a Director of Security, Steve Meriwether who oversees all Diocesan schools campus safety protocols. All Catholic Schools have full time private security. Our campus has a security guard onsite from 7am until 5:30pm and for all special events at the school in the evening.
Our school campus is a locked facility and all parents need to come to the office for pickups or visits to the classrooms. Gates will be open at arrival and dismissal with a staff member standing at each gate to monitor visitors arriving/exiting campus. Our school is returning to Pre-Covid protocols and will ask all families in grades 2-8 to utilize the loop for arrival and departure from school. All families with students in grades PreK, K, or grade 1 will need to park in the church lot and walk to the campus to drop off or pick up their children. Please look out for classroom directions as teachers will be explaining their specific grade level procedures for arrival and dismissal.
Our school will practice regular fire and lock drills, and all teachers can lock their doors internally should we move to a lockdown situation. The safety of children is forefront in our minds and our faculty has spent time in our “Back to School” meetings to review emergency protocols for the new school year. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the administration at any time.
Parking
All parents and visitors to the school should park in the church parking lot. The staff lot and the loop lots are for employees of St. Viator School. Drop offs are never allowed in the staff lot — parents may only use the loop to drop students off.
Arrival and Dismissal
Grades PK, K and 1st parents need to park in the church lot and walk their children to the East Gate which opens at 7:45am. For pick up at 2:45pm, parents of grades PK, K and 1 must park in the church lot and pick up their children from the East Gate (1st) or the gym doors (PK, and K).
The loop lots are to be used for drop off in the mornings and pick up in the afternoons for grades 2-8. When parents of students in grades 2-8 are dropping off or picking up, either loop lot may be used. If in the loop, pull up to the furthest available space and remain in your car. Parents may not exit vehicles to help children out of the car. If your child(ren) requires assistance getting out of the car by themselves, you should park in the church lot and walk your students to school.
The West Loop will exit onto Eastern Ave. You must make a right turn. Under NO circumstances should ay car make a left onto Eastern from the school campus. In addition, please do not make a right onto Eastern and then make a u-turn in the school zone. This is illegal while children are present and the school zone is lit.
The East Loop will exit toward the church parking lot and out onto Flamingo Rd. You must make a right turn onto Flamingo Rd.
* Administration, security, and staff will be present daily to help with loop arrival and dismissal.
Please be patient with us the first weeks as we all acclimate
to the new arrival and dismissal procedures.

IMMUNIZATION INFORMATION
Pre-Kindergarten students must have their Health Form completed by their doctor and returned to the school office prior to attending school (August 15, 2022).
As a reminder, immunizations are required per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 392.435 and 394.192 especially for students going into Pre-K, K and 7th grade. This will ensure children will continue to be protected against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 392.435 and 394.192, if a parent or legal guardian fails to provide their child’s immunization documentation, the student must be excluded from school and may not be admitted until the requirements for immunization have been met.
Let’s work together as an immunization community to ensure children are protected against vaccine-preventable disease and ready to return to school.
