As summer comes to a close, many are eager to prepare for the upcoming school year. Classes will begin on Tuesday, September 8th through our Enhanced Virtual Instruction. 2020-2021 Remote learning will focus on:
- Community & connectedness
- Social, emotional, and physical needs
- Reflections tools for students and families
- Tracking progress towards clear learning goals
- Authentic and meaningful feedback from teachers
- Engaging learners of all backgrounds
- Simultaneous interactions with teachers and staff
- Options for students to work at their own pace
- Opportunities and resources for support at every level
This foundation will help create a more equitable experience for students throughout our communities. The first four weeks of school will consist mostly of student participation, establishing relationships, creating routines, and becoming familiar with the technology platforms like Blend (Canvas) and Seesaw (specifically for grades Pre-K-2nd). Stay tuned here for information! We hope you enjoy the newsletter! We encourage all of our families to input their feedback, which can be found at the end of the newsletter. We wish this finds you well!

Census 2020
The census count helps decide how billions of dollars in federal funds are used in the neighborhoods where we live. How does that impact our children? For the next ten years, the 2020 count will help fund things that are important to our families. And if we don’t count everyone, we miss out on money that can improve our children’s lives – now and far into the future. How? In our schools, a complete count means more money for:
- Title I funding for schools in low-income communities, so every child has a good education
- free and reduced-price lunch, so students don’t go hungry
- IDEA special education funding for children with disabilities, so they can reach their full potential
- Head Start preschool programs, so children can get a great start in school
- after-school programs, so children are safe and growing while parents work
- classroom technology, so students are prepared for the future

How Urban Farming Saved a Dallas Community
Some reasons for going "Tiny"
- Save lots of money! Having a smaller footprint means less energy usage and maintenance. Tiny homes use 1/4 the energy of a normal home, saving you thousands. And when paired with renewable energy, like solar panels, the savings become even greater. Tiny homes are a great transition for those that are currently renting.
- Liberate yourself from the curse of owning too much stuff! Tiny Homes force you to part with material possessions that are not necessary for a happy life. Many of us have found that the less you own, the more you learn to appreciate what you do have!
