ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will be sent home.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday Longhorns,
Thanks for your patience as our GRHS Counselors worked super hard this week to level class sizes (to ensure we can still socially distance as much as possible) for 1800 face to face Longhorns.
Lots of WINNING happening at the Ranch, please check out the coaches updates they submit each week at the end of each newsletter! Check out the ALL Academic Football List too...brains and talent! Way to go Horns!
As we are still getting acclimated back into "all things school", I wanted to remind everyone of a couple of rules that have been in place since I took over at the ranch, and that FOLLOWING the mandatory COVID safety protocols and procedure expectations MUST be adhered to.
Dress Code and Lanyard/ID 's STILL mandatory-PLEASE TIGHTEN UP!
So here is some real talk in an area that needs your immediate attention. As we came back from the holidays, I can definitely see there are some new "cute" clothes...but unfortunately many of them do NOT meet the dress code that is/has been in place. (I also remind you every day on announcements.) I see ENTIRELY too much skin showing. (For example, crop tops too short , shorts to too short, shirts too low in the front, big jackets (worn unzipped with mid-drift showing), etc) We have two choices here, adhere to my expectations starting this week (as I feel what we have in place is an EASY COMPROMISE for a school dress code) or I can can revamp my dress code expectations and remove some things off the "acceptable list". Dress code violations will be written up, which will affect your final exemptions. Please remember that you are at school, and rules are in place and expected to be followed. (whether you agree with them or not). Just a sidebar reminder that technology and social media can be a blessing or a curse....it's all about choices. Displaying being "out of dress code" by making TIKTOK's (at school) that have been sent to me by upset families to address, is probably not the best choice or a great reflection on you. Please do better this week, because YOU ARE better than that, I know it! (I have added the dress code visual for you again...in case you need a reminder).
Let's keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to be face to face.
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

CDC COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance -Changes!
Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amended their COVID-19 quarantine guidance to allow two shorter options for the quarantine period.
Beginning Jan. 4, 2021, the District’s COVID-19 quarantine guidelines will be updated based on this guidance from the CDC, as well as guidance from TEA and UIL. This update does not impact individuals with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test.
Individuals identified as being exposed to someone with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test will be quarantined based on the following:
- 10 days after the last close contact, so long as they continue to monitor themselves daily for symptoms and take appropriate precautions through day 14
- 7 days after the last close contact, after receiving a negative test result (administered at least 5 days after the last close contact), so long as they continue to monitor themselves daily for symptoms and take appropriate precautions through day 14
Individuals who return to school or work from these shorter quarantine windows should regularly monitor themselves to ensure they remain symptom-free and take appropriate precautions for the duration of the 14-day incubation period. Individuals who develop symptoms at any time during the 14-day incubation period should not report to school or work.
Click here for more COVID-19 exposure and quarantine information.
