Room 113 News

A glimpse into your child's past week! June 3

What We're Up To:

We have wrapped up most academic instruction at this point. I am trying to fit in Social Studies here and there as time permits. As a result, this newsletter will be kept short and to the point (you're welcome ;) ).

ALL STUDENTS NEED A WHITE T-SHIRT FOR SCHOOL ON MONDAY, JUNE 6th!!!!!

Email reminders were sent out on Thursday (6/2), but please have all Camp LEARN-A-LOT donations in to us by this coming Monday, June 6th. (The exception would be the food items, which are welcome on Monday, June 13th, the first day of camp!). Please remember that the last week of school is camp-themed and all events will take place at Reid during the regular school day.

Donations for the Made in Michigan Luncheon will be needed at school by Monday, June 13th, with the exception of the fresh fruit which can come in the day of the Luncheon (June 15th).

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR SIGNING UP TO DONATE TO THE TWO EVENTS BELOW!

I appreciate your help in making these last weeks enjoyable ones for your children.

CAMP LEARN-A-LOT

Since last year's camp was such a hit, we've decided to do it again this year with this group of students! An envelope came home with your child on Wednesday. It is in a sealed envelope with a school mailing label on it (a copy of the note is pictured above. Please open this, read and participate, and send back to school with your child. We are trying to keep this a secret from the kids.

Students also need a white t-shirt. It does not need to be new! Information on this was sent home in the sealed envelope note.

SCIENCE

We are done with Science instruction. If time allows, students will be creating Animal Trading cards in the last weeks of school.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Social Studies is all about Michigan Economics - agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and research/development. We will be doing lots of work with this to wrap things up this coming week!

MATH

Students have done very well with the basics of AREA. I've asked students to turn in their Topic 14 Packet, even though we did not finish it. We are going to move into a simplified version of teaching about Volume (Topic 15) next week. We began the school year with Topic 16, so your child will be leaving third grade with exposure and achievement in all Math content. Your child will no longer have Math homework coming home.

READING

Sarah, Plain & Tall brochures were turned in on Tuesday. Many students have not turned theirs in yet and have been given the opportunity to borrow a book so that they can get this assignment completed.

We began watching the movie this week.

WRITING

We are all done with Writing!
