Principal's Message
I have been working with a lot of the staff at Murphy for 7 years. Some I've only worked with for a few weeks. I love getting to know a little bit more about the staff here and see them outside the context of school.
This is Maverick Country is a slide deck where staff was asked to introduce themselves and talk about something they believe in. Enjoy!

Murphy Fall Play 2018
Fall Play
- Name of Play: Around the World in 8 Plays by Patrick Green & Jason Pizzarello
- Play Summary: Travel around the world and explore forgotten myths and unusual legends in eight fast-paced and hilarious tales! Guided by a band of roaming gypsies, the audience is transported from the ancient Far East, where a hero must kill a giant centipede to save a dragon king, to the Russian countryside, where a poor orphan must defeat three witches who stole his grandfather's eyes. September is National Suicide Prevention Month
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Murphy Junior High partners with Elyssa’s Mission (nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention) to provide depression awareness and suicide prevention training for our students as part of the Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program (SOS). The 2017-18 school year was the first year we implemented this program at all three grade levels. This year, and in following years, the SOS® program will be presented to 6th grade and 8th grade classes. The 6th grade presentations will occur in October; additional information regarding this program and presentation dates will be shared in an upcoming Bulletin.
The SOS® program teaches our students the ACT message if they hear someone talking about hurting themselves or others: Acknowledge, Care, Tell. Please talk with your students about the importance of reaching out to a trusted adult in those situations.
This week (9/9/18-9/15/18) is National Suicide Prevention Week. In honor of those who are living with mental illness, Murphy Junior High Student Services stands with Elyssa’s Mission to help #StopTheStigma.
