Focus for February: Heart Disease Awareness Month
Week 1: Tips for a Healthy Heart
Last Week's Daily Tips For Mental Wellness
Jan. 27: Watch or read something funny and laugh. Laughing relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after. Laughter boosts the immune system and decreases stress hormones. It also increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
Jan 28: Go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual. Getting more sleep will reduce stress and improve your mood. It will also help you to think more clearly, do better in school, and get along better with people.
Jan. 29: Try to learn something new. When learning something new your brain chemistry changes, your learning speed increases, and you make connections between skill areas.
Jan. 30: Find something to look forward to. Anticipating a future situation can sometimes help us to get through a difficult present situation.
Jan. 31: Practice Gratitude: write down two things that you are grateful for. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
