Shout Outs!
Hello Dragon Families!
Earlier this school year, the Student Council expressed an interest in creating a celebration system that allowed students and staff to recognize others at JDAL for exhibiting exemplary character or academic success. Although we continue to share our celebrations at Friday's school-wide circle, the Shout Outs provide an opportunity to highlight the good work that others are doing.
Students and staff fill out a colorful "Shout Out" card identifying the person they are celebrating, as well as a description of what that person did. We collect all the Shout Outs and then read them out loud at Friday's circle. Four cards are selected randomly to receive a "Dewey Discount" at the School Store. The rest of the cards are posted in the hallway, creating a growing visual of good deeds from throughout the year.
We are proud of our JDAL students for their role in creating a learning community filled with so many moments to celebrate.
Thank you for being a dragon! We appreciate you and we believe in you.
With gratitude,
Jen + the JDAL Staff
