The Liverpool Letter
Liverpool Public School - September 2021
Principal's Message
Thank you again to all the parents and carers who completed our survey on learning from home. We had an overwhelmingly positive response. The results were sent to families through Skoolbag at the end of last week and contained further information on strategies for supporting learning from home as well as details on support services available in our community. Please contact the school on 9602 7882 or liverpool-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au if there is anything you need help with. Whilst we may not be able to help with everything, we will do what we can to find someone who can.
You would be aware of the announcement regarding a return to face-to-face learning in schools. There is a lot of information and planning that needs to be undertaken before we can share details with our community about what this will look like at Liverpool Public School. We will provide information closer to the date of students’ return through Skoolbag, Facebook and our learning from home website. Please make sure you have downloaded Skoolbag to receive notifications as they come through.
Next week is SASS Recognition Week where we celebrate the contribution of our SASS team to learning in schools. The SASS team include our office staff, school learning support officers and bilingual aides, and general assistant. All play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning in our school. On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank them for their outstanding work in the best of times, and acknowledge the support they have provided through learning from home. We are so privileged to have such a wonderful team working with us!
I hope that amongst all the negative news we are hearing recently that we are able to take time this weekend to celebrate Father’s Day. Spending time with the ones we love puts everything into perspective. To all our fathers who are looking forward to being taken care of this Sunday, enjoy yourselves!
Yours Sincerely
Mr Tapuska
Zoom Backgrounds
As part of our Zoom expectations, students can blur their background or use an appropriate image. One of our school leaders, Manraj, has created a background for students that can be downloaded for use.
Thank you Manraj for taking such great leadership initiative!
From the Deputy Principals - Mrs Alfaro and Mrs Pritchard
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we see Remote Learning continue for Term 3, we are excited to be hearing and seeing all the wonderful learning that is occurring at home, during Zoom sessions and through Google Classroom. The students have been engaging with their learning in a proactive manner and have even had the chance to celebrate some school events from home. We have had the pleasure of celebrating Education Week and more recently Book Week. It was such a joy and pleasure to see so many different learning activities occurring, though one of our favourites was seeing some Kindergarten students dressing up as their favourite character from their favourite book.
Please remember to continue to monitor our Facebook page and the Skoolbag website for any updates or important items. This is the fastest way for us to communicate with our families. Recently information has been posted about the importance of physical activity and monitoring the amount of screen time that students have each day. As we continue with remote learning we encourage families to access these resources that have been posted and take advantage of some of the educational activities that do not involve being on a screen all day, plus some great physical activities that can be done by the whole family. Miss Maharaj kindly recorded some exercise videos that are easy and fun to follow. These can be accessed in Skoolbag.
We also remind our families that your child’s teacher will be calling you to check in and make a connection with your child, but with the family as well. This is a way that we can continue the wonderful relationships within the school and allow an opportunity to assist in any way possible. The teachers are also checking in personally with each student and providing any necessary guidance and support. It is important to know these phone calls are being made from private numbers.
We hope that all our families are staying safe. We look forward to seeing you all again hopefully soon.
Take care and talk soon.
Mrs Pritchard and Mrs Alfaro

Early Stage 1 News - Ms Vejzovic
What a term of learning it has been!
Students from Kindergarten have actively engaged and taken on the challenges of learning from home. They have been developing their knowledge and skills in phonics, mathematics, morning routine, geography, creative arts and sport.
Students have received resource packs with whiteboards, whiteboard markers, counters and pencils. We use these resources during our lessons to support students learning.
Thank you to all our parents, carers and families for continually supporting their children during remote learning.
Please remember to look after yourself and if you have any questions feel free to contact the school.

Stage 1 Team Update
Wow Stage 1 what a term!
Your teachers cannot believe that we will have completed one full term of learning online. We are very proud of you all and hope that you feel proud of yourself too. We have been seeing some fantastic work from all of stage 1.
We hope you like your new whiteboards! It is great to see more and more students submitting their work on Google classroom. This is important because your teacher can see you wonderful work and knows how to help you! We are also seeing lots more faces popping up on zoom. Please remember that it is never too late to start joining zooms as this is where your teachers deliver important lessons, do reading groups and also explain Google classroom tasks. Please remember that the zoom room remains open from 9am – 11am and 1pm – 3pm. You do not need to stay on all this time but your teacher will be there if you want to pop in and out and ask questions as your work through your booklet and Google slides.
Congratulations to all the students who have received a merit award!

Students are successfully attending Zoom sessions with their teachers each day. Please remember to submit class work via Google Classroom or if receiving a booklet in the mail, to keep them in a safe place so they can be brought in when we return to school. Teachers continue to be available on-line each day between 9:30am – 11.30am and 1:00pm - 3:00pm to assist your child with any queries they may have. Teachers, learning and support staff and myself have also been contacting families to ensure they are managing the on-line learning effectively, answer any questions and provide any other additional support that may be required.
Selective High School Applications will open on-line mid-October and close mid-November. All applicants will be required to sit a placement test which will be held on 10 March 2022. Further information will be provided when details are released.
A kind reminder to year 6 families. Please ensure forms sent from your child’s high school for 2022 are completed and returned to the high school with all required requested documents. Information regarding orientation days will be provided when the information is received.
Thank you for your support during this time.
