Additional SMART Interactive Panels Installed This Week
New SMART Interactive Panels will be installed in many EES, WES and CCPS classrooms beginning today. This will continue our recent effort to transition from our aging SMART Interactive Whiteboards, many of which are nearing end of life, to a new interactive panel format. Acquisition of these new interactive panels is possible, in part, by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Grant.
The ARC awards grants from funds appropriated to the Commission annually by Congress. Program grants are awarded to state and local agencies and governmental entities (such as economic development authorities), local governing boards (such as county councils), and nonprofit organizations (such as schools and organizations that build low-cost housing). These grants are specifically for the Appalachian Region.

Reflecting on a Semester
The new year started out full speed ahead! Then weather worries seemed to have us putting on the brakes. Our recent bad weather days gave us time to catch up and reflect on all of the wonderful things that happened at CMS during the first semester. Join us in reviewing some of the great happenings at CMS by viewing the CMS Newsletter.

Happiness is a Good Book
Those who grew up with Peanuts will remember that "Happiness is a Good Book"! Looks like this guy agrees with Linus! It doesn't get any better than seeing a student laugh at the funny part of a book during silent reading.
Chromebooks, Google Apps, Pixel Art, Multiplication Factors and Fun
Our Chromebooks make it easy for us to access Google Apps. Google Sheets is just one of the Google Apps for Education. Google Sheets is a spreadsheet software that can be used for many classroom activities. This class created Valentines using a multiplication factors activity. The end result was learning and practice that looked more like fun than work.

Informational Writing
Some of our first graders recently shared their informational writing. It is amazing what these young writers compiled. So proud of their effort!
