Stonegate Parent Update
October 2020
Dear Stonegate Families,
As we journey together over the next year, we must remember that our goal is the same: "to provide and receive the best education for ALL of our students." We all give big and small pieces of support to our Stonegate community every day. Every piece of support is meaningful and moves us just a little closer to our goal. We are thankful for our school, for our families, for our students, for our teachers. We are thankful to continue providing education "seated" in our classrooms! We are thankful for the families who continue to follow precautions at home, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, and keeping kids home when anyone is sick. This helps our entire school stay "in-person" longer. Thank you!
Rise Up!

Important Information
What to do if your family wants to change educational settings... VIPR to SG
If you want to move to Virtual Learning (VIPR) or return to Stonegate, follow the steps below. In order to be considered for a transfer from in-person to VIPR, you must have requested and submitted in SIS an eForm on or before Oct. 6th, 2020. Please call our Stonegate Secretary, Mrs. Como, at (816) 892-1900 to request any moves to or from Stonegate. Mrs. Como will assign an E-form in your SIS parent portal. Decisions for changing the educational setting will be based on class size and teacher availability.. Thank you!
Friday, Oct. 16 and 30, will now be virtual instruction days for EC-5
Details about October 16:
Similar to October 2, elementary schools will send devices home with students in grades 2-5, this time with charging cords. The purpose for this day is to continue practicing procedures that will be used if school closure is required later in the school year for inclement weather or COVID-19. Students will practice taking home charging cords and returning to school on Monday with both the cord and device fully charged so that they are ready to learn Monday.
As part of this practice day, all teachers will provide activities for students to complete. Parents and students should expect to see an additional learning activity or two this time as we prepare for future virtual learning expectations. The activities will be paper-based for students in our five-day early childhood classes, kindergarten, and first grade; and online via Seesaw for grades 2-5.
Staff of grades EC-5 will participate in professional development related to virtual learning and online resources.
Note: Students in grades 6-12 will have virtual learning as usual.
Details for October 30 will be shared in the near future.

Free Meals for all Students through Decemeber
Great news! The USDA recently extended the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program through Dec. 31, 2020, or until funding allows. This allows the Ray-Pec Child Nutrition Department to provide FREE breakfast and lunch to children up to age 18 residing within the district.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Child Nutrition transitioned to the SSO program and began serving all breakfast and lunch meals to students at no charge. (The waiver does not affect the cost of meals served from Aug. 24 to Sept. 4, which were charged at the free, reduced, or full-price rate.)
Families are still encouraged to complete the 2020-21 Free and Reduced Meal Application. At the point meals return to their free, reduced or paid rate, we want your meal account status ready. If there has been a change in your household income, you are highly encouraged to complete the form online.
VIPR students and 6-12 grade at-home learners can sign up for weekly meal packs - breakfast and lunch - at www.rpchildnutrition.org. (These meals, which are also free, require a weekly pick-up.)
Ray-Pec Parent University
A new resource is available for families! Ray-Pec Parent University is a Facebook group with a mission of engaging, educating, and empowering parents to build a resilient community.
Although Ray-Pec Parent University is a private Facebook group, you need only answer a couple of questions and agree to the group's guidelines to be admitted.
The project was developed by members of the District's Mental Health Task Force. Currently, the page administrators are polling members about possible topics.
Ray-Pec Community Survey
The Raymore-Peculiar School District would like you to share your opinion on a few important issues. This online survey will ask you about the district and its priorities for long-term facility planning.
The survey is being managed by ExcellenceK12, a company that works with school districts on community research. It should only take you 5 to 7 minutes to complete. Please note the survey can only be taken once per device (laptop, tablet, etc.). Your answers are confidential. The survey will close Oct. 2.
As part of its long-range facility planning process, the District is considering a no-tax-rate bond issue election in April 2021. The survey results will help provide feedback important in developing a ballot proposal. For more information: Read more
