Stay Up-to-Date on Your Child’s Immunizations
Millions of children and adolescents are behind on critical immunizations that will keep them safe and allow for a return to in-person learning or resume sports activities.
This month's Report to Parents, “Stay Up-to-Date on Your Child’s Immunizations,” offers families ways to learn about the risks of missing vaccinations and how to make sure their child is caught up on immunizations.

Parents as Partners in Special Education Conference May 11-25
Building Bridges Between Home, School, and Community
The Parents as Partners conference, hosted by the Prince William County Public Schools Office of Special Education Parent Resource Center, is designed to empower parents, prekindergarten through 12th grade, to advocate for their child and navigate the Section 504 or special education process to ensure successful outcomes.
Join us throughout the month of May for live Zoom information sessions presented by the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) and the Prince William County Public Schools Office of Special Education. The sessions will address how you can be an advocate for your child, talk with your child about bullying, and contribute to the Section 504 or IEP process.
Visit the Parents as Partners webpage for session descriptions, registration links, and to request accommodations for each session.

CLASS PLACEMENT REQUESTS
Dear Panther Cub Parents,
If you would like some input into the type of classroom your child is placed next year, please describe your child’s learning style, the type of classroom where you think your child will be most successful, and the type of teaching style most suitable for him/her. We will not honor requests for specific teachers by name, even if you have some experience with a teacher through an older sibling or a friend’s child. Each child is different, and each teacher/student relationship is different. Further, there is always the possibility that teachers will change positions or grade levels before we return to school. It is more helpful for you to focus on the child than the teacher.
I will accept emails requesting types of teachers and sharing characteristics about your child up until the close of business on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. We will not be able to consider parent input after that date. This is your only chance to provide input into your child’s placement for next year. Once the school year begins, we will not switch classes. Please email your requests directly to me at johnsdb@pwcs.edu. I will keep any information you share confidential.
Thank you in advance for your input! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Danna B. Johnson
Principal
