Classroom News

Welcome back from Spring Break. Hopefully it was restful and rewarding spending time with your child. It is hard to believe Spring is here after all the snow and rain we have received. We will be in the final push to make sure your children are ready for next year. We have this week and next week of this unit and three more units to complete before the year is over. We must be having a lot of fun because this year is flying by!

We Are Learning This Week

We are continuing our unit 8 -Traditional Tales and Whole/Part/Whole. This unit is about knowing different ways of communicating one's thinking is important for making good decisions, knowing similarities in all things and people, seeing how things can be taken apart and/or putting together again and how using tools can help us learn. Best of all we are going to read a lot of fairy tales and nursery rhymes.

Our Main Goals this week:

Language: Children will be able to identify the letter K and things that begin with the letter. Our children will be working on classic Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes-Hickory Dickery Dock and Old King Cole, We will be sequencing the story of the Cinderella, and the alphabet. We will be continuing our work on beginning sounds of words.

Math: Your child will be able to recognize how much can be covered within an object. We will be covering different shapes up with a variety of items. This is the exploration of the concept of area.

Social Studies: Your child will be working on recognizing difference between people and cultures.

Science: Your child will learn to use measuring tools to measure the length of different objects and weight.

Social Skills: We will review feeling and work on strong feelings that are uncomfortable. Your child will learn about feeling frustrated. Children can feel frustrated when they are trying to do something that is really hard. We are learning the steps to deal with frustration and how to calm down.

Reminders

Wednesday is Library Day

This week we will have regular check-in/ check-out at the school library. The book fair is gone. Please make sure your child brings their library book.

Toys from Home

As we return to school please check for toys in your child's backpack. We have been seeing more toys from home recently. We would like you to check that your child only brings school related items in their backpack. Toys from home stay at home. We do not want to upset your child when we ask them to put their toy away.

S.O.S- Save Our Supplies

We are completely out of paper towels and are low on baby wipes. If you have it in your budget to send just two rolls of paper towels or a package of baby wipes it would be greatly appreciated.

Spring Photos and Class Photos

Hopefully you received the envelope or envelopes with your child's individual Spring photos and class photo. Please remember to pay for the individual photos or return the envelope. Here is the link to LIfeTouch Photos.
