Math Curriculum
Nevertheless we are finishing this process and will update when this process is complete. I am thankful to the many teachers that have put in a lot of time and energy to make an important impact on math instruction for the next several years.
Here are the 8 Mathematical Practices that helped guided our curriculum review.
The 8 Mathematical Practices are listed below.
Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
Reason abstractly and quantitatively
Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
Model with mathematics
Use appropriate tools strategically
Attend to precision
Look for and make use of structure
Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning
Congrats to our March Paws Ticket Winners!

Under the direction of Mrs. Huselid and Kristin Taffe, the CGB Community Ed will offer an opportunity for students in grades 3-5 to perform a play starting April 10-18th. They will perform for our elementary students during school hours and welcome families and community members to a final show on the 18th at 5:00 pm.
The goals of the program are to promote the arts in our school, to support a well-rounded community education program and to foster the talents of our community and students.
We invite families and our community to attend this performance highlighting our students in a comedic play called, The Chair by Geoff Bamber. We hope to help our students see the enjoyment of something new coming from community ed and would love to see the program grow in the future!
Reach out to Mrs. Huselid, the school or the directors if you or your organization/business would like to financially sponsor this group. Your support is noticed and appreciated by our students and district!
IXL
Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Cardwell attended an IXL conference earlier this year and were instrumental in leading presentations to our K-12 staff about the new features and possibilities to help students. The program continues to grow and we continue to realize the potential of the program.
IXL matches up with all state standards so it gears questions towards our current standards. This is especially helpful when you have older curriculum that cannot always keep up with changing state standards. Beyond questions, there is instruction, videos, and ways for students to get help.
There is also a feature that tracks real time diagnostics that helps determine students' progress with important math and reading concepts. Teachers can also track mastery of certain standards or content area to determine their progress. Click below the link to take a look - keep in mind that anyone can access IXL at home and answer 10 questions for free without a subscription. Here is a direct link to MN state standards. However, all students have a paid subscription in which they can log in and answer unlimited questions.
