Clinic News
Hello MAOH Families,
As we get closer to the day for students to be on campus please continue practicing the proper way to wear a face mask. Face masks must remain over the nose and reach under the chin. If it fits too tight or too big then the proper fit should be located. We do not want masks falling off students' noses. They must fit comfortably so they do not feel the need to remove or keep adjusting. Remind students they are to keep a distance of 6 feet between them and another person. The floors are marked for where they are to stand when walking in the halls. In certain areas seats are marked with green check marks to let them know where to sit or with red x marks to know where not to sit. Frequent hand washing and hand sanitizing will take place throughout the day.
Students' temperatures will be checked at drop off once they enter the building. Please be sure you are self screening students at home before bringing to school. If they have a fever (temperature of 100.4 F or greater), cough, shortness of breath, headache, chills, sore throat, runny nose/nasal congestion, or diarrhea they must remain at home. Students should not return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of any medication.
If you have any questions or concerns I can be reached through email at normgarcia@dallasisd.org or by phone at 972-925-2710. I will be contacting parents of students I am in need of immunization records. We are currently at 87% missing 37 records. We need to be 100% by the end of the month.
Thanks,
Ms. Garcia

Social and Emotional Learning Corner
What is SEL?
This year, MAOH will continue to grow in our SEL awareness. SEL stands for social-emotional learning. According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), SEL is the process through which we learn and apply social-emotional knowledge, attitudes, and skills for understanding and managing emotions, setting and achieving goals, establishing and maintaining relationships and feeling and showing empathy for others. At MAOH these skills for life effectiveness will be intentionally taught and modeled in a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive environment.
PLEASE WATCH BELOW: Five Keys to Social Emotional Learning Success
Our goal is to provide helpful resources that are utilized with our children and will support the SEL awareness and well-being of our families. Please feel free to contact me regarding the social and emotional welfare of your child and family. We are fortunate to have a district that has a wealth of resources to meet the needs of families. I look forward to supporting our families during this school year.

We are discussing National Holidays in the library. The national calendar of days is the number one place to review the fun days, food days, and important days of the year. The calendar includes the widest variety of national days you’ll find anywhere, including days from US government or other government declarations, days named by organizations or companies, days marking significant anniversaries and milestones, or even days created by social media buzz!
Join us and celebrate National Holidays. Please log onto my website and pick holidays to celebrate with your child.

ART
Hello families,
I am delighted to begin my art teacher career at Montessori Academy. These upcoming weeks, the activities in art are “All About Me”. The activities and resources have been created on Seesaw. The activities will be assigned once the rosters on Seesaw have been organized by grade level and teacher. I look forward to blossoming your child’s imagination by creating personal artworks.
Thank you, Ms. Juarez
Music
MAOH families,
One of might great joys in teaching at MAOH has been offering additional music opportunities to interested students. Below is the opportunity I am offering for this year.
Junior Music Teacher Program
Does your child love music? Does your child like teaching other children? Then this program may be of interest. In the Junior Music Teacher Program, your child will learn how to plan and teach Kodály music lessons. By the end of the program, children will be able to script an elementary music lesson, and assist Mr. Root in teaching virtual or in-person music lessons.
This program is open to both in-person and virtual learners, and will meet via Zoom outside of school hours. The program will enroll a maximum of seven children. This is a school year-long program.
Requirements:
Your child must have permission from you to have videos of their teaching posted within the MAOH community.
Because this program will meet online, your children must have access to Zoom at least once a week outside of school hours, frequent access to email, and to the Holy Names University song collection.
Recommended Experience:
The child should be in their 2nd or 3rd year of music classes with Mr. Root. 3rd year is preferred.
Prior choir experience with Mr. Root is preferred.
Children should be passing academics.
Application Process:
Interested children should write one paragraph about why they want to join the Junior Music Teacher Program and email it to Mr. Root.
In addition to the paragraph, the application should include days of the week and the times that the child is available for synchronous Zoom meetings outside of school hours.
Applications will close October 1st. Successful applicants will be notified on October 5th.
Please email applications or questions to wroot@dallasisd.org.
