Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!

Big picture

Dear Pleasant Valley Families,

It’s hard to believe that fall is just around the corner! Building and classroom routines and procedures continue to be practiced and reinforced, and our teachers are busy building a safe and inviting learning environment in their classrooms.

We have completed fall benchmarking, beginning of the year district-wide assessments. Benchmarking is conducted three times a year- at the beginning, middle, and at the end of the school year. This practice gives our teachers valuable standards-based information regarding our learners’ current levels of performance with previous and current grade-level expectations to best meet their needs by differentiating instruction and having a gauge to measure their growth throughout the year. These assessments also indicate who is "on track" and who is "not on track" to meet the Ohio Department of Education's Third Grade Reading Guarantee criteria. Students in grades K-3 who are "not on track" will receive a Reading Improvement Monitoring Plan (RIMP) from the district later in the fall.

Dr. Smialek has notified us all that we will be returning to mandatory masks for all learners and staff members beginning on Monday, September 20th while inside the district's buildings.

Click here to read PCSD's COVID Protocols for 2021-22. Parents need to check their children for symptoms before they leave for school each day and keep them home if they are sick or exhibit any of the symptoms listed in the SYMPTOM CHECK area of the document. Masks are mandatory on buses and now mandatory inside the school. We will distance to the extent possible in the school.

Thank you for helping to make Pleasant Valley the wonderful school that it is! As always, I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are very appreciative of all of you! Should you ever have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.885.2380 weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Very Sincerely,

Mrs. Stephanie Boka
