Message from Principal Lawson

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to welcome you all back for the 2022-2023 school year! This year our theme is "Putting Memorial on the Map" and we are looking for all the ways to ensure that Memorial students and staff make our mark in our community and district! We are ecstatic about all that is to come during our second year as a campus family.

Our devoted staff is working to ensure that we create a pathway to success for each of your children. Our front office team is working to ensure everyone is registered and we have all of the needed materials to begin our year off strong. Our amazing custodial team has spent the entire summer working to ensure that our building is clean and all is ready to welcome you all back. Our "Mighty Maverick" PTA is continuing to plan and create new opportunities and programs to further engage our school community.

In the weeks to come, you will hear more about LISD and Memorial's focus on Community Engagement with proactive and positive communication, including communication commitments that we will use to uphold our partnerships with families and productive processes when navigating concerns. You may have already seen the new LISD logos #OneLISD! Be sure to like us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for pictures, announcements, updates and more! Simply scan the QR code in the left hand corner.

Thank you to all who have helped to lay the foundation of Memorial and those who are helping us to prepare for the upcoming year. Your commitment to ensure Memorial is a successful place of learning and growth for our students is much appreciated! It remains an honor to serve as the "Lead Learner" of this campus and serve our community. Together we will continue to ensure that Memorial is a place where "every student matters and every minute counts."

Student Attendance

This year we are going to focus on student attendance. It is essential that students are at school as much as possible. We love seeing their faces each and every day and we do not want them miss any of the learning and experiences that each day offers.

We do not want our Mavericks at school if they do not feel well, so please make sure they bring a note when they return back to campus.

Mrs. Burleson will be in charge of K-5th attendance this year. If you have any questions you can always reach out to her at
