Murwood Weekly eNewsletter
August 2, 2022
Dear Murwood Families,
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!
I hope you had a wonderful summer & are refreshed and ready to kick off a GREAT year!
While our teachers have had a much deserved break, the work of an educator never really ends. Our team has been engaged in professional development in the areas of social emotional wellness, reading, writing and math instruction and campus security. Our second through fourth grade classrooms received new furniture to support and encourage flexible seating options and collaborative learning. We also welcome several new staff members to our team.
- Kendall Thornton, Special Day Class TK-2nd grades
- Jane Macy, 5th grade
- Annalise Cox, Kindergarten
- Isabelle Torchia, Instructional Coach
- Lauren Jones, Library Media Tech
- Freddie Queriquencia, Night Custodian.
The Murwood community is a very special and supportive place and our community partners help us thrive. WCEF, our education foundation & PTA are integral parts of our community! Your donations to WCEF fund our specialist programs –science lab, art & music. The PTA at Murwood is here to promote an inclusive community for children and families and support the education and enrichment of our children. As PTA members and/or supporters, you have access to our online school directory. Your volunteer time and funds bring programs and events to school. Some examples include community events, books for the library, classroom teacher and grade level grants, and parent education programs. We both “fun”raise and fundraise throughout the year to meet our annual goals. Fundraisers include:
PTA Annual Fund: Suggested donation of $250/family
PTA Walk-a-Thon and Auction: Our primary fundraisers! Stay tuned!
AmazonSmile: A simple & automatic way to support Murwood, at no cost to you.
We are seeking one more Academic/Wellness Para for Murwood and a variety of other positions, including substitute teachers, for the district. Let me know if you (or a friend!) may be interested or consider applying directly online at Edjoin.org.
We are looking forward to making this a year full of fun learning opportunities for all.
Below you will find links to a recent message from our Superintendent, as well as other information to help you start the year off right!
