First Destination Imagination Meeting
(Communicated 9/30/22)
Hey, Caruso Blue Jays!
Are you interested in improv, building and creating things, and teamwork? If so, come to our first Destination Imagination (DI) meeting on October 3rd at 3:15 right after school! We will meet in D1, Mr. Demos's 8th grade social studies room. The meeting will last around 30 minutes.
This is the initial meeting here at Caruso to gather interest and go over what DI is all about. After the turnout, I will send emails out to parents with as much detail about this coming year as possible.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Monday, October 3rd.
Thank you,
Monty Arnold

TrueNorth Survey - Lend Your Voice!
(Communicated 9/30/22)
Our school district is a member of the TrueNorth Educational Cooperative 804. TrueNorth provides a wide variety of services, from professional consultation for our staff to alternative school placements for our students. TrueNorth is developing a new strategic plan; as part of the process, they are looking for input from many groups. You are an important TrueNorth stakeholder and your opinions and experiences are valuable. This information will assist our district and TrueNorth in better meeting the needs of your children. Please participate in the TrueNorth strategic planning process by completing this survey: https://hyasurvey.com/TrueNorth. The survey is open through Sunday.
The survey data is an important component of the strategic planning process and will be used, along with other data components, to develop the plan.
SEL Student Survey
(Communicated 9/23/22)
Building students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is important at Caruso Middle School. As a part of the learning process, we will be asking our students to reflect on their own SEL mindsets via an online survey. The survey will be administered between October 3rd and 14th, and it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. It asks students to self-reflect on their own grit, growth mindset, self-efficacy, self-management, social awareness, emotional regulation, and supportive relationships.
Individual student responses can provide the school and family with insight into what skills the child self-identifies as strengths and others they would like to develop. The overall data helps us (the educators) identify priorities and provide targeted learning opportunities to address the SEL needs in our classrooms.
Per policy, if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey, please contact Tim Brodeur (tbrodeur@dps109.org) no later than October 1st.
