Feedback: Thank you so much to everyone who provided feedback in the Start, Stop, and Continue survey. A-Team and I will be going over your answers and will follow up in future Akers' Updates to share ideas or ask for more information on ideas shared! Thank you so much for taking your time to help us grow as a school!
Jeans Passes: We have enough money in our Scholarship fund to give two $1000 scholarships to former Rennell students who graduate this year from Cy-Ranch. YAY! Money collected from jeans passes for the remainder of the year will go into our Hospitality fund toward treats and fun for the staff! Thank you for your contributions!
CF-Tess Mid-Year Reflection: Teachers, don't forget that your mid-year reflection is due by the end of January (which is next Thursday!) More information below.
Reflection: As you take time to reflect on your goals for the year and how you are progressing in them, don't forget to take time to celebrate yourself and your progress. Most often, as educators, when we reflect, it is to look for areas of weakness and/or ways to improve. We are often very hard on ourselves! I came across the reminder below on twitter and it really resonated with me. I think we all need this reminder to also take time to reflect on what we’re doing well and be proud of the progress!

edCamp Cy-Fair
What is an edCamp? It is a day of learning with NO PRESENTERS, NO POWERPOINTS, and NO HANDOUTS!!! Just educators sharing their thoughts and ideas with each other by having real, honest conversations. AND it's my FAVORITE professional development model. I ALWAYS come away from an edCamp learning SO MUCH and making connections with other educators that I can reach out to after the event.
It is coming up next Saturday, January 26 at 8:00am at Spillane Middle School. Breakfast is provided and you'll leave by lunch with great ideas and reignited passion!
Here's the link to find out more and register for this free event!
PS - I am one of the leaders and organizers of this event - I would love to have a great turn out from Rennell! :)
Superintendent's Fun Run
Saturday, March 2, 2019 is CFISD’s sixth annual Superintendent’s Fun Run and Festival at the Berry Center. The event features an exciting new 5k course - THROUGH OUR VERY OWN TOWNE LAKE, a 1-mile path through Cy-Fair FCU Stadium, family games, vendors, food trucks and fun for the entire community.
The fun run is an excellent opportunity for CFISD employees from every campus to connect and compete in a healthy and fun environment while raising scholarship funds for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. Last year’s contribution of $100,000 established CFEF’s endowed Superintendent’s Fun Run scholarship, and together we can match this contribution!
Dr. Henry will host a reception with cake and punch for the high school, middle school, elementary school and department with the highest percentage of staff and student participation. Employees who aren’t able to attend the event can contribute with a $10 sleep-in pass, and registration is open now!

Redhawk Reflections
CF-Tess Mid-Year Reflection
Prior to the end of January (THAT MEANS BY THURSDAY!), each teacher needs to 1.) revisit the personal professional goal that was set at the beginning of the school year for reflection and assessment of progress made toward the goal, and 2.) monitor and adjust the goal for student growth.
To document the Mid-Year Goal Reflection process in CFPGS, the teacher will complete two activities housed within the Cy-Fair Professional Growth System (CFPGS):
1. Mid-Year Goal Reflection: Part II-a (located within the Personal Professional Goal-Setting and Mid-Year Goal Reflection container). After completing the Mid-Year Goal Reflection activity, the teacher acknowledges the reflection process.
For guidance, see “A Help Guide for the Mid-Year Goal Reflection: Part II-a” found on the CFPGS Home Page. Additionally, there is a “Helpful Hints” link embedded within the activity itself.
2. Phase 2: Monitor and Adjust Goal for Student Growth (located within the Goal for Student Growth (GSG) Process container). The teacher is asked to record reflections concerning the GSG and to upload an in-progress copy of the Student Growth Tracker as evidence of growth.
For guidance, see “A Help Guide for Phase 2: Monitor and Adjust GSG Reflection” housed under My Appraisal Resources on the CFPGS Home Page
