School Lunch
Massachusetts has extended free school meals for all students through the 22/23 school year.
This means all STGRSD students will be eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch every day for the 22/23 school year.
Lunch Pricing for Second Meals
Students will be required to pay for second meals and items like extra milk, cookies and chips. The School Committee recently voted on new pricing for additional meals to be in alignment with meal costs.
Additional meals will be available at the Following Prices:
Breakfast: $2.50
Lunch: $4.25
Payment for these items must be made using the funds on the student’s School Café account.
To check your child’s School Café account balance or to add funds with credit card, visit the website: http://www.schoolcafe.com.
Even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families to still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for next school year. Information received from those applications will be used to determine grants and other funding that the District is eligible for. We ask anyone who has not completed the benefits application to please do so through http://www.schoolcafe.com
Bus Routes
Transportation for STGRSD students is provided by the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative Transportation Services.
Bus assignment letters were emailed to families on August 23, 2022. If you have questions about your child’s transportation for the 22/23 school year, please contact our transportation provider at (413) 569-6896.
Please be prepared for transportation delays, especially during the first few days of school as students, families, and bus drivers get used to the new routes.
Device Distribution
During the first few days of school, students at SRS (7-12) and Powder Mill School will receive laptops with cases and chargers to be used for learning during the 22/23 school year. Technology department staff will be on hand to assist with login information and access to Microsoft Office 365, including school email.
Expectations for responsible use of school technology are outlined in the STGRSD technology policies. Those policies are available on our website: https://www.stgrsd.org/school_committee/policy_manual
If at any time a laptop, case or charger, is damaged or lost, please contact the school office to discuss options for a replacement. There may be a charge for lost or damaged devices.
Missing devices or components will be charged to families as follows:
- Laptop $400.00
- Charging Cord $40.00
- Laptop Case $20.00
COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols
The COVID-19 protocols for the 22/23 school year are very similar to those we had in place at the close of school in June 2022.
- Masks are required in all school health offices.
- Masks are not required to be worn in school buildings, other than health offices, but anyone wishing to wear a mask will be allowed to do so.
- Masks are not required on school transportation but the State of Massachusetts requires school vehicle windows to be open whenever possible. Please make sure your child is aware of this and dressed appropriately.
- Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate for at least five (5) days. School nurses will have information for families about return to school protocols, including masking. The full guidance is linked HERE on our website.
- The test-and-stay program and test distribution at schools has ended. Schools have a limited number of tests that will be made available to families on an as needed basis until the current supply runs out.
- The district will no longer report weekly COVID-19 numbers to families.
