April 2023 Monthly Newsletter
Principal's Message
Happy April!
We have officially made it to the last leg of the school year! Man has this year FLOWN by! I hope that our families were able to relax and collect some core memories over Spring Break. I know that we had a great time relaxing here in Cody, jumping at the trampoline park in Billings, and enjoying this crazy amount of snow. As much as I am ready for Spring weather, I know we need the moisture. I am thankful for any that we can get!
Springtime brings the beginning and end to many out of school activities. Rec basketball for grades 1-2 is finishing up, Yellowstone Fire soccer is starting, dance studios will be having their end of year recitals soon, wrestling is in full swing, traveling volleyball is getting started, spring calves are starting to hit the ground, and so much more. There are many activities that our students can be involved in here in Cody, I hope that your child is able to take advantage of just one.
There are so many exciting things happening at Livingston, especially this time of year. Classrooms are working hard to continue to prepare for end of the year and state assessments, teachers are planning field trips and end of the year fun, new after school programs will be available, 4th grade wax museum is being prepared, field day, talent show, and so much more! As soon as dates are available, we will post those on our website and social media pages.
WY-TOPP Summative Assessments
April brings the month of summative assessments. Students in grades 3-5 will be participating in this assesment towards the end of April. Please see the schedule below for the days and times of your student's assessment. We ask that you continue to have your students at school each day and on time. However, if an appointment or absence is necessary, please avoid the day your student is being assessed.
Thank you all for supporting your child's education. I hope you can find a book to enjoy with your child. Research shows that parents or guardians who read to their child, even for a short period of time before bed, children on average hear 1.4 million more words than those who do not have bedtime stories. And even more impressive, this is all before age 5. I know evenings can be exhausting with extra curriculars, dinner, bath time, and just life. If you can spare just 5-10 minutes, your child will greatly benefit!
As always, if there is anything your child's teacher or I can do to help. Please reach out to us via email or phone. (307-587-4271) -Mrs. Lewis

Arrival and Dismissal
Students need to be outside or at breakfast in the morning.
Breakfast starts at 7:45am
Time before school is used by teachers to plan and prepare lessons and materials. Because teachers are unavailable to supervise them, we cannot allow students to be in the hallways before 8:10am, unless you have arranged tutoring.
Instructional Bell- 8:10am
If you arrive after the bell you will be marked tardy.
Tardy: The elementary schools of Park 6 take attendance twice daily. Attendance is taken first thing in the morning and afternoon. In the morning , students who are late but arrive before 8:30 are counted tardy. If they arrive after 8:30, they would be considered absent for the morning. In the afternoon, students absent longer than 20 minutes after 11:30 will be considered absent for the afternoon.
Note: Habitual tardiness is dealt with at the building level. Five (5) tardies to school equal one unexcused absence.
Dismissal Bell-3:15pm
Friday Dismissal-Early out every Friday-1:35pm
Please call the office before 2:30pm if you have a change in after school plans. This helps with getting notes to the children in a timely manner. If we don't hear from you, we will assume to continue on with regular after school plans.
