News and Updates from FSMA
Transformations
This week many classrooms were talking about butterflies. From learning about a teacher's collection of butterfly specimens to actually watching a butterfly come out of its chrysalis, it has been a topic of conversation. I have watched and listened to our "scientists" describe the changes they are witnessing and cannot help but think about how this is symbolic of so many things.
Our students are like our butterflies... they came to us in one form, will go through a transformation over time, and will come out ready to see the world in a new way. It is a journey that is expected to take them many years! This week, our school's test results have been made public (individual scores will be coming soon). The percentages represent a snapshot of our children after being with us for just 6 months... it is more like a picture of them still in their chrysalis. Our students have done fine, and we now have a great starting point for us to measure growth!
While some transformations take years, there have been many that have occurred in just 8 days! New friendships are developing, skills in how to use a work plan are being learned, and academic connections have been restored. We know teachers are sharing specifics about each classroom and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. And, don't forget about Open House on September 17th!
