The Cub's Tale Newsletter
December 2019
Principal's Message
The month of December is always a busy time, with this year being no exception. Along with the struggle to maintain a focus on learning, extra-curricular activities are also in the works.
Our preschool hosted parent involvement on the third and fourth of the month with the theme being Pajama Party. Both days were well attended by parents. We have two Spirit Days this month. The first is on December 4th with the theme of Decade Day. All are encouraged to wear clothes from their favorite decade. The second Spirit Day is December 18th, Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.
Our PTO is at it again. After a successful Scholastic Book Fair, they have now organized our annual holiday bazaar. Students will have an opportunity to do some holiday shopping for family and friends throughout the week of December 9th. Information from your child’s teacher is on its way.
This year’s winter concert, “On with the Snow” is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, December 11th. The third grade students of Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. DiMeo, Ms. S. MacDonald and Mr. Dailey/Ms. Widen have been working hard to present this fun filled holiday program. Once again, I’d like to thank Mrs. Linda Lorenz for her musical direction in helping students prepare for this special event and Mrs. Donna Glinos for her artistic talents.
Lions International was at CSS once again to conduct eye screenings on all of our students. In all, over 800 students were screened.
Students in Pre K-3 will be treated to an assembly - Prismatic Light Show - on Monday, December 16th.
Finally, this is a reminder that our last day of school before winter break is Friday, December 20. This will be an early dismissal day.
The Positive Character Trait for December is Generosity. Students will continue to participate in peer buddy activities in line with this theme.
To all parents of Preschool students, do not forget to get your children their flu shot prior to their return to school in January. You must submit your doctor’s note to the Preschool office. Any child without proof of a flu shot will not be permitted back to school in January. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.
In closing, I would like to wish all of our Cold Springs School families a very merry holiday season and I look forward to seeing you all back in the new year when we return on
January 2, 2020.
