-Attendance is a critical piece of your child's education. Please be vigilant in helping get your child to school every day and on time!
-Attention Senior parents, if you would like to order a panoramic photo of the seniors class, please place your order with LifeTouch. Ordering for the panoramic photo will close soon!
-Updates from the Office of Student Success (Guidance):
- 10/13 PSAT/NMSQT (juniors only) @ 9:00 am in the MPHS gym: A limited number of spots are available. Inquire at the Office for Student Success (School Counseling). There is a $16.00 test fee. Fee waivers available for students who receive free/reduced lunch.
- 10/16 @ 6:30 pm: FAFSA Completion and Submission Workshop (MPHS Room 253) Please bring last year’s income tax return and one parent and student must apply for a Federal Student Aid ID at https://fsaid.ed.gov/.
- 10/18 Senior and parent meeting @ 6:30 pm in the MPMS Auditorium
- 12/12 and 12/13 Senior Portrait Make-up in the Commons from 2:30-9:00 PM. Students who did not have portrait taken will receive appointment cards from Lifetouch. Students who want to have a picture retake will need to call 410.644.7700. There is a $10.00 fee for picture retakes.
- Admissions Officers from a variety of colleges have scheduled visits to MPHS to meet with seniors. Students are encouraged to stop by the Office for Student Success (School Counseling) to check out the colleges planning to visit. Sign-up is required.

-The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is offering training to parents of students with disabilities on critical decision points that can affect a child’s ability to earn a diploma and be ready for higher education or a career. The free, four-hour sessions — offered in eight locations, beginning this month through February — are available to parents of children with disabilities who are currently eligible or being considered for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) or Section 504 of the Rehabilitative Act of 1973.
The training dates and locations are as follows:
· October 17 in Bristol
· October 18 in Roanoke
· November 8 in Manassas
· November 15 in Staunton
· December 10 in Richmond
· January 16 in Suffolk
· January 16 in Fredericksburg
· February 5 in Appomattox
