Need to know the Lexile of a book? See below...

How to Find the Level of a Book:

Go to the website below and type in the title of the book. Occasionally, a book may not be included in the data base, but most will. You can find the lexile number along with genre information. Your child's lexile range was on the Milestones report from 3rd grade.

Hungry for some Pringles?

Fourth grade is collecting Pringles cans, (with lids but no chips). :) We need them for a special solar system activity that will be coming up this Fall. We need a can for every fourth grader here at LCE. Start snacking and look for sales. Thank you!

What do you need Wednesday?

Wednesday mornings we are offering extra time at 8:00 a.m. for students to come in for either extra help or to get work done. Be sure to make it clear to your student or send us an email abut why they are coming in....some of the students who have shown do not know why they were sent early. :0)

Square One Art

Children's Original Art

Your child has created an original artwork in art class. You have an

opportunity for this artwork to be put on various products, such as mugs,

ornaments, phone covers, etc that you can purchase from Square 1

Art. These items make great one of a kind gifts for family and friends,

and they will be delivered to your child before the Thanksgiving break

(just in time for the holidays!). You can order online or send

the order form in to your teacher. Please add 6% tax to your order.

Contact Kathryn Adams at with any questions.

This is a fundraiser that goes toward paying for the Fifth Grade tile wall.

Important Dates:

October 21 - Order deadline

November 16 - Products delivered to your child's classroom

Diaper Drive

Level Creek will be collecting diapers (larger sizes) and supplies (wipes/ointment) on

Monday, Oct 17th-Wednesday Oct 19th.

Each year we participate in Gwinnett’s Great Days of Service sponsored by the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services. The diapers will go to help build the diminishing supplies of the North Gwinnett Co-Op in Buford. What a wonderful way to build the character and leadership of our children through service!

Diapers/supplies can be dropped off at the counselor’s office.

Hero Day is October 21st

For more than a century, United Way of Metro Atlanta has helped those in need. Your donation stays in Gwinnett County and helps to ensure that:

□ babies are born healthy

□ children enter school ready to learn and graduate prepared for careers

□ young people avoid risky behaviors

□ families are self-sufficient

□ people have access to health care

□ homeless people are housed within one year

On Friday, October 21st, your child has the opportunity to be a HERO and help United Way. For a donation of $5.00 or more, students may come to school dressed up as their favorite hero.

*Please note that this is not a Halloween Celebration and students should not come dressed up as monsters, etc. Talk to your child about the qualities of a real hero. Your child may also donate and be a hero without dressing up since the act of giving is truly heroic. Donations will be collected in the classroom.

Student ownership at its best!

Look at Luke and his family's ingenious plan to foster both student ownership and responsibility....the side effect being student success! Luke is mapping out the week, focusing on the big picture, so that work, fun, and extracurricular events can all happen.

Science Fair is coming!

The LCE Science Fair is coming again!

Science fairs are a great way for students to ask scientific questions and
investigate things that interest them the most.

Please visit the website for more
detailed information. We look forward to
seeing the amazing projects of our young scientists!

Do not forget about Quizlet...

One way you can help support your child is by setting up a free Quizlet account. Quizlet is a virtual flashcard website that we use to house materials to support our science and social studies content. It can also be used to find flashcards to support Wordly wise vocabulary. Not only are there flashcards on this site that can be viewed electronically or in print, there are also games and other activities to help your child study. We have our own class account and all you have to do is select the link below and set up a user name and password. Our account will always be loaded with our current units' study aids.
