A Special Congratulations!
VMEA Blue Ribbon Award!
Rock Ridge High School will receive the VMEA Blue Ribbon Award again for the 2021-2022 school year. This award is presented to schools that receive a "Superior" rating at the District Assessments for each music discipline. Every single ensemble that performed at the District Band, Chorus, Guitar and Orchestra Assessments received a Superior Rating this year. Congratulations to all our Rock Ridge musicians and their directors for this tremendous accomplishment!
Debate - STATE CHAMPIONS!
We are proud to announce that Rock Ridge is the State Division 4 Debate Champions! In addition, Debate won the Division 4 Sweepstakes and two Public Forum teams were winner and runner-up. RRHS also placed 4th in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Course Selection Reminder
Important SOL Reminder!
SOL Testing & LCPS Devices
Students are required to bring their LCPS-issued devices to school during SOL testing. TestNav is an application that is installed on LCPS devices and cannot be access through LCPS Go. If students have not used their Chromebooks this school year, they are still responsible for reporting to their SOL test with an updated, working device. If a student has a damaged or lost Chromebook, please contact glenn.colucci@lcps.org before test day to arrange for a loaner Chromebook.
How to Update Your Chromebook
1. Turn on your Chromebook.
2. Connect your Chromebook to school Wi-Fi.
3. At the bottom right, select the time.
4. Select Settings .
5. At the bottom of the left panel, select About Chrome OS.
6. Under "Google Chrome OS," you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.
7. Select Check for updates.
8. If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
Seal of Biliteracy

If you have taken a qualifying exam for Seal of Biliteracy in the past 4 years, please complete the following application to receive the Seal on your diploma. Applications close May 4th.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK & SENIOR EVENTS!
- We are in the final stretch of the school year but have key events coming up and need your help and support!
- We know without a doubt we have the most AMAZING teachers and that teachers overall are doing more with less, have faced challenges unforeseen ever, and don’t get the respect or compensation they truly deserve for shaping the development of our children which in turn impacts the future of our society!
- Teacher Appreciation Week is 5/3 – 5/6 and there are lots of ways for you to express your personal gratitude in support of the FINEST teachers and staff!
- Seniors are also bringing their tenure to a close after a topsy turvy experience due to COVID & we really want to honor their struggles & successes because as we know PHOENIX RISE & need your help to make these events extra special!

PTSO PEP RALLY & SOCIAL FOR PARENTS & FAMILIES – HUGE SUCCESS!
- Thank you to the amazing families and students who came out and participated in this fun evening! We had nearly 100 individuals from RRHS as well as 8th grade parents and families from SHMS attend!!!
- Thank you to those who also have chosen to get involved in support of the PTSO next year! We had individuals sign up for nearly 60 volunteer positions!!!

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
- RRHS will be hosting 21 male STEM students from Austria from Sat. 5/14 – Sun., 5/22 (female students from sister school to come in the fall)
- Families are needed to host the students in their homes for this week!
- What is involved:
- Pick up student from Dulles airport on Sat. 5/14 & return to airport on Sun., 5/22
- Students attend RRHS all week and may ride the bus with your child if they take the bus
- Monday & Thursday the exchange student will shadow your child at school
- Tues, Weds, & Fri – planned outings from RRHS arranged for the student
- Students are vaccinated and boosted and have to have a negative COVID test to enter the US
- Weekends: do your usual stuff, whether it be grocery shopping or sports events – they just want to experience life here in America!
- Past experiences have been overwhelmingly positive & is a great way to be an ambassador of RRHS and our wonderful country!

- WHY: Give your scores a “turbo boost” with this highly energetic, informative, 2 ½ hour course that will have you feeling more confident and ready to walk into the test!

Academy Day 2022
The Office of Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District would like to invite all high school students that have interest in attending any of the five United States Service Academies, or have an interest in a future in the US military, to participate in the 2022 VA-10 Virtual Academy Day, to be held on Saturday April 30th, from 10:00am-12:00pm.
