Ms. Smith's Weekly Newsletter
December 20, 2019
Wow!!! We are halfway through the year! It seriously flew by. Whether you have a reason to celebrate over the break or not, this is a great time for rest and relaxation. I can't wait to see all of the amazing things 2020 brings for us. I hope you all have an amazing two weeks with your learners.
Class Reminders:
After break, there will be lots of learner work coming home, so keep an eye for that.
“Play It Safe”
Mrs. Garvin has a “Play it Safe” abuse-prevention lesson to teach all grade level learners when we return in 2020. Parents have the choice to “opt out” of this lesson, if they choose. Please see more details and the form, here.
BABY/TODDLER PICTURE
… when we return in January, we will learn all about timelines during social studies. Your child will create a timeline of their life to learn past, present, and future. Please work together as a family over break to find a small photo of your child from the past to send to school on Monday, January. This photo will be glued to a piece of paper (and possibly cut), so please make sure it's one you can part with.
A note from our nurse: Here are a few reminders to help our community stay as healthy as possible!
· Symptoms of the flu usually include fever with cough or sore throat, and sometimes a runny nose, body aches, headache, vomiting or diarrhea
· Students AND staff must stay home with symptoms of the flu and should not return to school until they no longer have a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
· Remind students and staff to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer regularly.
· Create opportunities within the school day for students to wash their hands frequently.
· Continue to teach children to cover their cough with their elbow, and to avoid touching their face.
· The most effective way to prevent the flu is the flu vaccine!
