The Manning Weekly Newsletter
MARCH 12, 2021
It's almost Spring Break!
Manning Community,
On a different note, our addition is coming along and is on track to be done by the time students and staff return in August! In February the exterior shell of the building was framed with roof decking installed. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in work began and remains in progress. In the month of March the roof will be completed as well as exterior sheathing and waterproofing. On the interior the rough-in work will be completed with drywall installation starting. By the end of March brick and metal panel siding should be seen from the street. Site work will also begin with grading and utilities.
Finally, I sent out a special messenger on Wednesday this to our hybrid families. Please see below for the info that was sent out and make sure you are filling this form out by Sunday evening if you are a current hybrid familiy that would like to go 100% remote for the rest of the year, starting Monday, April 5th.
Hello Hybrid Families,
I've included a Google Form that I would like you to complete ONLY if you are a current hybrid family that would like to move to 100% remote for the remainder of the school year, starting on Monday, April 5th (this is the date we return to 100% in-person learning). If you are a hybrid family that plans to send your student(s) to school M-Th, starting April 5th, you DON'T need to fill out this Google Form. We will just roll you into the 100% in-person learning model.
Important information to know as you determine which learning model is right for your family:
For April 5, Jefferson County Public Health stated that 6-feet of social distancing is preferred, but 3-feet of social distance is allowed in classrooms because in-person learning is an essential need.
Targeted Contacted Identification (TCI) criteria will still be used based on 6-feet of social distance. We will have the same safety procedures in place that we've used all year. Temperature checks and daily screening with each student, hand sanitizing, washing hands frequently, and wearing masks. We will also send students to eat outside as much as possible, except for inclement weather days where students will still use the cafeteria and auditorium for lunch.
Deadline for this Google Form
This Google Form will close at midnight this Sunday, March 14th. We need this data to plan for April 5th and get an accurate head count of which students will be 100% remote.

2021-2022 School Year Update and Remote Learning Program in Jeffco
Jeffco Public Schools is launching a new remote learning option for the 2021-22 school year - the Jeffco Remote Learning Program (JRLP). In response to high demand from our families, this program was created as an alternate education environment that suits students who find success in remote learning.
All PK-12 students will have a 100% remote learning option through either Jeffco Virtual Academy (JVA) (6-12) or a Jeffco Remote Learning Program (JRLP) (PK-12). The learning options are designed to facilitate high-quality learning opportunities in both learning environments. Providing these remote learning opportunities (JRLP and JVA) will significantly reduce the need for educators to lead a class with both in-person and online students.
- JRLP students will be officially enrolled in their school of choice, but will participate in this remote learning program. Students who choose JRLP will remain connected to their current school for communications, athletics, events, all school activities, assemblies, dances, and maintain a virtual connection with current school staff on a regular, weekly basis.
- The JRLP will offer synchronous learning (synchronous online learning means that students are required to log in and participate in class at a specific time each week with live instruction and engagement between students and teacher). The amount of synchronous learning will differ by grade and course.
- Jeffco teachers will teach Jeffco curricula.
- Special Education, GT, ESL, SEL, and counseling services and support will be available.
What does this mean for my student at Manning?
Below are some links to some comparison charts and a how to guide on how to apply for this program.
If you desire to apply for the Jeffco Remote Learning Program for the 21-22 school year, you must go back into Enroll Jeffco and submit a round 2 application for this program. It does NOT in any way affect your spot here at Manning, and you would be serviced by Manning for some of your educational needs. It does mean that your student will not have Manning teachers for the majority of their education, and please know that Manning will NOT be offering any remote options next fall.
The deadline to apply for this program and maintain your spot at Manning is March 26. After that date, you may not be guaranteed a spot in the Remote Learning Program.
Any offers sent for remote learning will also expire after 3 days. A family has not officially enrolled in the Jeffco Remote Learning Program until they accept their offer. If the offer expires they would need to log back in to EnrollJeffco and reapply.
Are you an 8th grader who missed the ICAP presentation?

The price of the T-shirt is $5 for youth and $5 for adult.
100% polyester face masks are $1.50.

CMAS Information
Manning Community-
As many of you are aware, we are beginning to schedule and planning our state testing of CMAS this year. Testing at Manning will begin April 12th through April 15th.
Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) is designed to measure the Colorado Academic Standards and show the degree to which students have mastered end of year grade level expectations. These results are used to enhance instruction and learning for students. It is important to note that CMAS results provide only one measure of a students’ academic progress relative to the Standards. Below are the required grade levels and content areas.
English Language Arts (ELA): Grades 6, 7, 8
Mathematics Grades: 6, 7, 8
Science: Grades 8
There is no remote option for CMAS testing, all testing must be completed in-person, on district property, and only on student contact days. Student and staff safety is our highest priority and all health and safety measures will be followed during testing. Students and staff will not be asked to come into the building to test if it conflicts with state and local health orders. The individual health needs of families will be respected. Students will be scheduled in a safe area where they will have little to no contact with in-person students. To minimize that contact, we would suggest remote students bring a sack lunch. Hot lunch will be available to remote students, but this will possibly require remote students to be in contact with other students.
We honor and respect the decision you will make for your family regarding your participation in CMAS. However we do need you to fill out the CMAS form below. This will allow us to know if your student will or will not be taking CMAS and the number of students we will be expecting.
Testing will begin the week of April 12-15. All students will be following this schedule:
BUTTON BELOW
Please note that 6th and 7th grade students will not attend Thursday April 15th. Additionally, April 15th is an early release day for 8th grade students after they are done with testing.

Personal Care Product Drive!
Hello, my name is Maya Laz. I’m a 7th grader here at Manning.
I am doing a community service project with the Jeffco Action Center. The Action Center helps people in Jeffco who are currently experiencing homelessness or poverty. They provide food, clothing, school supplies and other forms of assistance.
What: I will be collecting hygiene items including: shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent, lotion, toothpaste, tooth brushes, and feminine hygiene products. They can use full size and travel size. The full size is great for families and the travel size works well for people experiencing homelessness.
Where: Collection bins will be placed at each entrance to Manning. I will bring anything donated to the Action Center.
When: The drive will run from March 1 - 19.
I hope that you can participate and help others in our community.
Thanks for your help!
Maya Laz
