A Great Opportunity for DVIA

It's time again for the Accreditation Review for DCPS

Dear Parents and/or Guardian(s),

One of the things most critical to our success is the quality of the educational programs we provide every school, every classroom, for every student, every day.

For five years, Duval County Public Schools has maintained high quality standards in its delivery of programs, curriculum services, and leadership, earning accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools SACS’/CASI. SACS’/CASI accreditation denotes that a school district has successfully achieved the following:

· Clear vision and purpose

· Responsible leadership

· Rigorous curriculum

· Quality teachers and resources

· Stakeholder communications and engagement

· Continuous improvement strategies

· Student learning and outcomes

Every five years, the Association conducts a comprehensive review of schools and districts to determine the progress and continued success of the above standards. This month, an Advanc-Ed SACS accreditation team will visit Duval County Public Schools to assess our effectiveness in strategies and standards.

I am delighted to share that they have selected our school as one of 30 to be visited during their review. During their visit with us, the team will visit virtual classrooms, interact with faculty and staff, and observe operations and related activities. While none of the planned activities are expected to interfere or disrupt our learning environment, we are notifying you that our visit is scheduled for April 29, 2014.

We are so looking forward to showcasing the quality teaching and learning occurring each day at Duval Virtual Instruction Academy. If I can answer any questions you may have, please feel free to contact me.

In the meantime, please place April 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. on your calendar for the meeting Advanc-Ed SACS will host at our district office to share their findings and results with the community.

We look forward to outstanding results for our school and district.

Sincerely,

Dawn B. Elkins

Assistant Principal
