Principal's Message
Kia ora koutou e te whānau te Kura o Hato Pirihiti,
Staff Baby News!
Warm congratulations to Heather Clark and her partner Cameron whose twin boys have arrived safely. We wish Heather and her family all the very best during this very special time, and look forward to meeting Henry and Fergus soon!
Our school’s response to Cyclone Gabrielle
We received a wonderful response from our community supporting the initiatives our tamariki have led. Thank you for all of your canned food donations to build the tower and coin donations for the coin trail. In total we raised $600 which has been used to purchase vouchers from The Warehouse and Farmers for those in need in the St Patrick’s and Reignier School communities. Thank you to Composting NZ for delivering our donations to Napier this week.

Mandarin Language Assistant
We are very excited to have secured a Mandarin Language Assistant (MLA) to teach Mandarin Chinese to Years 2-8 this year. From next week, our MLA, Win Xeng (Zoey) will spend Mondays and Tuesdays at St Brigid’s. This opportunity was applied for last year through the Confucius Institute at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and it is free of charge. We are sharing Zoey with Cardinal McKeefry School in Wilton. We feel very blessed to be able to offer this valuable language and cultural learning opportunity to our tamariki.
Movin’ March
Movin’ March has got off to a great start! We’re loving all the stamping of passports! Remember if you walk or wheel, our sports leaders will tick off your trip at the gate and all entries are sent to GWRC at the end of March. All passports in the WOW Passport Challenge go in the draw to win one of 12 x $400 MYRIDE vouchers. We have spot prizes to give away, too!
Park & Stride: If your family lives too far away, why not park a short distance away from the school gate and walk or wheel the rest of the way?!
Have a wonderful week.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Jennifer Ioannou
Principal/Tumuaki

Message from the Board of Trustees
2023 Annual Plan
The Board has approved the 2023 Annual Plan that you will find on our website. The Annual Plan details the areas of focus across our school for this year.
In 2023, we will be focusing on the 3Cs - Connection, Collaboration and Curriculum with learners at the centre of all that we do. As facilitators of learning, we commit to ensuring our programmes of learning are inclusive, authentic, culturally-connected, responsive, engaging and aspirational.
Please take some time to review our Annual Plan.

Welcome to St Brigid's
We warmly welcome our new students who have joined us this week in Room 2:
Hunter Smith, Zachary Li and Lexi Cenizal.
Hunter joins his older sister Aubrey and Lexi joins her older brother Rhys. Zachary's family is new to our school.
We hope you thoroughly enjoy being part of the St Brigid's family.
2023 Term 2 Miniball and Basketball
Thank you for responding to interest and offers of coaching/managing of miniball/basketball at Nairnville Recreation Centre (Khandallah) for Term 2. We have 51 keen participants at this stage. Registration will be sent in the next few weeks and I will also be contacting those who have offered to help. At this stage it looks like we will have 3 Year 7-8 teams, 3 Year 5-6 teams and 2 Year 3-4 teams. We have enough coaches/managers for Year 7-8 and Year 5-6, however we have not received any offers from Year 3-4. Unfortunately, if we do not get offers to help manage the team we cannot enter them for Term 2. Please contact Fiona at fiona@stbrigids.school.nz if you are able to offer or want further information.

Before School Care at West Park School for St Brigid's Children
Kelly Club West Park are now able to provide Before School Care to St Brigid's children.
The programme is run from the West Park School hall between 7.30am-8.30am - check the link below for more about what they offer for both Before and After School Care. The children will be escorted from West Park on foot from 8:25am by a staff member who will ensure they arrive at St Brigid's safely, ready for their school day.
If you would like your child/ren to attend the West Park programme, please enrol them through the website at: www.kellyclub.co.nz/west-park. Please ensure you place (SB) at the end of your child's surname when you enrol them to identify them as St Brigids children. Thank you.
