Elementary Twitter Chat
There is a chat just for elementary teachers! It was started this summer, it is the first Thursday of each month at 7:30pm. I have participated and noticed a few of you in it too!
The next chat is this Thursday August 4th at 7:30, it will be about Reading Standard 2. The hashtag to follow is: #OkElem (sneak peek of questions below)
Hope to "see" you there!
"Techify"Meet the Teacher Night
Meet the Teacher Night is right around the corner! A great addition to your "Parent Corner" is an online Google form to gather email addresses. This will make communication a breeze! You will simply need to design the form, make a qr code or a quick link on your classroom iPads so that it is easily accessible. Every email address will then be gathered on a spreadsheet in drive. You will be able to make a master list using the email addresses, send weekly newsletters or class news. If you only need to contact one, or a few parents, you simply go to the spreadsheet, copy and paste the addresses you need into the email. Please let me know if I can help you get this set up!
Makerspace
There are 13 stations that should be utilized each week ( Engineering, OSMO, Chromebar, Lego Wall, Lego WeDo, Makey Makey, Imagination Playground, Google Earth, Speedometry, Coding, Marble Run & Magnets, Creation, Robots). I suggest laminating a folder with 13 squares marked, pairing students, writing their names on sticky notes, and placing them in a square. Each week you simply rotate the sticky notes so that each student visits a different station. The stations will be updated again the first week of December.
Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship is probably not at the top of your back to school to do list... it may be easier to do this during your first visit to the Makerspace. I will meet your class in the Explanation Station for your first vsit to discuss Digital Citizenship, and take your class on a tour of the Makerspace.
SeeSaw
SeeSaw is a wonderful writing platform, great communication tool with families, and free! It would be a great way for your students to reflect after their Makerspace time too! If you set your class up and bring me a copy of your class SeeSaw qr code by Monday August 29th your name will go in a Mystery Drawing... Please let me know if I can help!
Student Email Addresses
Did you know that each student has an email address? It is their lunch#@clintonokschools.org and their password is their lunch#lastname (first letter of last name is capitalized). You could use this email for projects in google drive and at the Chromebar in the Makerspace. Please let me know if you have any questions!
