Devine Away Football Game

Parents, please consider signing up to volunteer as a chaperone or load crew if you have already completed the CISD background check here. The sign up to volunteer is here. Tickets to the game can be purchased here. Parents who are not volunteering as load crew or chaperones may not enter the band section in the stands.


Students need to bring these items with them to school on Friday.

  • Grey Wolf Band water bottle filled with ice and water
  • Band – long black socks, marching shoes, compression shirt and shorts, gloves, band ball cap, athletic shorts for run-through.
  • Color guard – show hair and makeup, bodytights, black socks, show undergarments, and guard shoes.


Schedule for the day

  • 5th period (1:31 pm) - All band and color guard student report to band hall
  • 2:00 pm - Short run through
  • 2:30 pm - Load truck and get dressed into half uniform
  • 3:20 pm - Inspection and load busses
  • 3:45 pm - Leave DHS for Devine HS
  • 5:15 pm - Feed the Band @ Devine HS
  • 6:00 pm - Get dressed in full uniform and unload truck
  • 7:00 pm - Pre-Game Ceremonies
  • 7:30 pm - Game starts
  • 11:00 pm - Leave Devine
  • 12:30 pm - Approximate Parent Pick Up (students need to help unload their instrument off the truck before leaving)

USBands Hill Country Regional Marching Competition

We are attending the USBands Hill Country Regional Marching Competition this Saturday at Pieper High School. We are competing in Group III with 5 other bands. There are 21 bands total competing for 10 spots in finals. This is the most competitive contest we have been to outside of UIL Area. There are bands attending the contest that have advanced to the state marching contests in 4A, 5A, and 6A classifications. We have set the goal of making finals, but we are also going to support everyone else's success regardless of our placement as all bands are working hard. Here is the lineup for prelims.


Spectator Arrival: Spectators should arrive on Kinder Parkway via E Borgfeld Rd, go past the stadium entrance, and turn right into the campus. Please follow the direction of parking staff and posted signage.


Spectator Parking: Spectators will park in the lots behind the main school building. There will be a $5 per vehicle parking fee collected by Pieper High School. Cash or card is accepted.


Tickets: Tickets can be purchased prior to the event here. There is only a lower cost all day pass available. The stadium will not be cleared between prelims and finals. There will be a price increase day-of at the box office. Children 10 and under are admitted free without a ticket.

  • 10:15 Load truck, eat lunch (provided), and get dressed into half uniform

  • 11:15 Inspection and load busses

  • 11:30 Depart Davenport HS

  • 12:15 Arrive at Pieper HS

  • 1:55 Warm Up

  • 2:45 Performance

  • 3:30 Announcement of Finalist Bands (Class champions plus next 6 highest scores advance)

  • 4:45 Dinner (provided)

  • 5:15 Depart Pieper HS if we do not make finals

  • 7:00 Finals begin (random draw for order of performance)

  • 10:00 Awards

  • 10:45 Depart Pieper HS

  • 11:45 Parent Pickup @ DHS


Items to Bring on Saturday

  • Band Formal Uniform Parts – long black socks, marching shoes, compression shirt and shorts, gloves, athletic shorts for run-through, hair items
  • Color guard Formal Uniform Parts – show hair and makeup, bodytights, black socks, show undergarments, and guard shoes
  • Jeans
  • Gray Wolf Band water bottle filled with ice and water

Eligibility

Students who fail a class on the 6-week progress report will not be eligible to attend football games and marching competitions starting with the homecoming game on October 7th. Grades will become final on Friday, September 30th at 4:30 pm.

Comal ISD Marching Band Exhibition

The Comal ISD Marching Band Exhibition is Monday, October 3rd. All 5 marching band in Comal ISD will be performing their marching shows. Tickets are $5, and all proceeds go towards college scholarships. Tickets can be purchased here.


Here is the tentative schedule.

  • 4:30 pm - Feed the Band
  • 5:00 pm - Run through
  • 5:20 pm - Load truck and change into half uniform
  • 6:00 pm - Inspection
  • 6:15 pm - Leave for SVHS
  • 7:00 pm - Arrive at SVHS and unload
  • 7:30 pm - First band performs
  • 7:50 pm - DHS Performance
  • 8:10 pm - Load truck
  • 8:30 pm - Watch bands, last performance at 9 pm
  • 9:30 pm - Depart SVHS
  • 10:30 pm - Parent pickup @ DHS

Remind Groups

We have two sets of remind groups.

  • The first is for directors to communicate with both parents and students. We used this Friday to let everyone know the game was delayed 30 minutes due to rain.
  • The second is for section parents to communicate with parents in their section.
