Superintendent's Message
November 18, 2022
Clever Families,
Well, the change from fall to winter weather sure happened in a hurry! The holidays are fast approaching, and with it comes the possibility of inclement weather. Please make sure your emergency contact information is up to date in order to receive all notifications should cancellations become necessary.
Speaking of notifications, we are working to add text messaging as another way to share information with our families. Be sure to check out the information in the newsletter below for more information.
We want to take just a moment to remind everyone that should the need to cancel school arise, school districts are allowed to implement virtual learning plans in place of up to four missed days. Like last year, our first three snow days are built into the calendar, and the next four (if needed) will be virtual learning days. In October we shared our AMI plans, and a link to those plans is in this newsletter.
At the November meeting, the Clever Board of Education approved the our Continuous School Improvement Plan. Our CSIP has been created with input from stakeholders including parents, students, community members and businesses, and staff who share the vision to prepare all students for learning now and in the future. This plan will be used as we work to establish our long range planning goals. A link to the full CSIP document can found in the newsletter below.
Both in our CSIP and ultimately in our long range plans, safety and security remain a top priority. Please take a moment to visit our website (www.cleverbluejays.org) and review the Emergency Response Guide housed in the Safety/Security Section. We ask all Clever families to commit to having ongoing conversations with students about safety and security and to encourage the reporting of any concerns to a trusted adult on campus. Report any threat to a building administrator, the District Central Office, or the Clever Police Department. All threats will be investigated fully to determine credibility. If you see something, say something!
We have so many activities happening on campus! Fall sports are winding down, and winter sports will begin soon. The theatre department, the academic team, band, and choir have all been very busy! Two of our Cross Country runners, Riley Britton and Chloe Smith, advanced to the state competition by finishing 10th and 11th (respectively) at districts. We are so proud of them and all our students who work so hard representing our district!
The holidays are fast approaching, and while we strive to practice gratitude each and every day, this time of year is always a welcome reminder to be thankful for who and what we have in our lives. I am especially thankful for our Clever community. That includes our dedicated staff, our families who entrust us with their children’s education, and the network of support we receive from the businesses, churches, and organizations throughout our community.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Dr. Breeden
Superintendent

There is also information about volunteering and/or donating. https://leastofthesefoodpantry.org/
Our Novembe Staff Proud Tuesday recipients are Erin Scheibe (High School), Emma Childers (6-8), Rachel Garrison (3-5), and Mindy Taylor (PK-2). Our building principals, assistant principals, superintendent and director of operations presented each teacher with a “Trophy of Awesomeness”.
Congratulations to our November recipients!
Congratulations to Riley Britton and Chloe Smith for advancing to the State Cross Country meet. The top 30 runners from Districts qualified for State, Riley finished 10th and Chloe finished 11th.
At the state competition Chloe finished 22nd in a field of 161 earning her all state honors. Her time of 20:16 set a new school. Riley ran a good race and made a great showing as well. We are BluejayProud of both girls!
The 2023 graduation ceremony details have been confirmed.
