A new tradition kicked off in Pennsbury today. A team of district administrators, led by Dr. Tom Smith, superintendent, and TR Kannan, school board president, traveled across the district today to announce the Educator of the Year and Support Staff Professional of the Year for each of the district's 14 schools. Dr. Smith and his team surprised each of the award winners and presented them with a certificate, balloons, and treats donated by each school's PTOs.
Parents, students, and staff members submitted nominations earlier this year. A committee of staff members, administrators, students, and PTO members reviewed each of the many nominations received and selected two winners from each building.
All of our winners will be formally recognized at the April 21 school board meeting. Congratulations to our 2022 Educators of the Year and Support Staff Professionals of the Year!

Students from Edgewood & Quarry Hill Sing Their Hearts Out in Pittsburgh
Students from Edgewood Elementary School and Quarry Hill Elementary School recently traveled with their families to Pittsburgh to participate in the OAKE National Conference Children's Choir. The students were among the 117 4th and 5th-grade students nationwide selected to sing with the prestigious choir. The students performed eight challenging pieces, which the students learned with Mrs. Kimock and Mrs. Stephens prior to the conference. This Monday, March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day, and we welcome everyone to participate in "Rock Your Socks", a worldwide way to celebrate! March 21 is a symbolic date because people with Down Syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of DS chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!
Help us celebrate district-wide by wearing crazy, colorful, mismatched socks this Monday. If someone asks, "What's with the socks?" you can use that opportunity to explain that it is World Down Syndrome Day, and that you are celebrating all the wonderful things about people with down syndrome while helping to advocate for individual rights, inclusion, and respect.
