Principal's Message

October was a busy month here at Sparling. Students are settling into routines and exciting learning opportunities are happening everyday. Please be sure to check out our Literacy and Numeracy boards outside the office for student work and excellent ideas to try at home! One of the best ways to enhance literacy and reading skills is through conversation. There can be lots of talking, reading and writing involved when planning and participating in family events. These include bike rides, cooking, shopping trips, visiting friends or family, or planning an outing to a cinema, museum or public event. Get your children involved in the process.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the Hockey Hooky Game such a success! Our entire school enjoyed this event courtesy of the Camrose Kodiaks. Everyone from our Pre-K classes up to Grade 5 attended to see a fantastic Kodiaks victory. Sparling students were excellent REAL leaders at the game!

Please remember to remove dirty footwear when entering the building, especially as the snow begins to fly! It is a tremendous help keeping Sparling school clean and modelling for our students. A look ahead to November includes our fall break, volleyball games, and the Sparkling Sparling Market on Nov. 30.

Sincerely,

Andrea Gutmann

Dress for the Weather

With the snow arriving it is important to remember to dress for the weather. Recess and outside PE are important components of the day to help keep energized and focused for learning. Please ensure your child has boots, ski pants, coats, toques, mitts, and scarves each day as we approach the winter season.

Crosswalk

Please ensure you are using the crosswalk when entering or leaving school. It is vital we model this for our students as we have a very busy intersection. As well we need to ensure we are not dropping off or picking up from the staff parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation.
