MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The new year is in full force and student growth and staff dedication continue to amaze me! Transitioning back to school can be challenging, but our routines are reestablished and classroom procedures are back in action. Students throughout the pods are back to “stopping and jotting” in reading, creating tape diagrams in math, and identifying what “zone” they are in and selecting an appropriate tool to help their body be “READY to learn” and be regulated. The weeks back from a long break are much like the first few weeks of a school year. We look forward to continuing the transition back and continue our hard work toward meeting the goals we have set!
#Bettercommunity Highlight
Before we left on break we collected cold weather accessories for individuals in need. Southbrook Church has donated our collected items to a Milwaukee based shelter. Thank you to all who sent in items. We had two boxes full of items!
Have a great week,
Jeannine Bombien

MAP TESTING GRADES K5 through 5th Grade
Your son/daughter will be participating in MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments in math and reading on1/9/23 - 01/20/23. MAP is an online assessment that Franklin teachers and other professional staff use to determine your child’s achievement levels, academic growth, and other information that can help to improve teaching and learning. The full MAP assessment will be administered again in May of this school year so achievement and growth can be monitored over time. Below is the MAP Testing schedule. Please ensure that your students are well rested and have a nutritious breakfast.
5TH GRADE PARENT NIGHT
We can’t believe it, but it is almost time for our 5th grade students to choose their classes for the 2023-2024 school year!
A virtual presentation with an introduction to Forest Park Middle School will be made available to all parents on January 10th. A school counselor will be visiting each elementary school in the days following to speak with students about middle school courses. Registration in PowerSchool will open on January 13th.
As a family, we encourage you to have conversations with your student(s) about their hopes for middle school. Our middle school classes are one of many ways for students to begin exploring their interests and learning more about themselves. We will continue to include transition information in our weekly bulletin for families. As always, if you ever have a question, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
HEARING & VISION SCREENING
The Franklin Health Department will be conducting vision, hearing, and height and weight screenings at your child’s school. Results will be mailed directly to the parents. All children in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grades will be screened on January 25th.
Any concerned parent of a child in 1st, 3rd, or 5th grade may request a screening for his/her child. All parent requests must be made prior to the day of screening through the child’s teacher or office staff.
NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY
REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR IS NOW OPEN!
Registration opens at noon on Monday, December 5th for the 2023-24 school year on our website here. Registration is for any new families to Franklin or new students looking to register for next year in 4K, 5K or up through 12th grade. If you have any friends or family in Franklin that plan to have children attend Franklin Public Schools next year, please pass this information along to them! Registering early helps to get all information in our system for planned communications.
Please note that any student that is already attending Franklin Public Schools DOES NOT need to register for next school year as a new student. This includes students already in Preschool Speech, Early Childhood, and 4K. All parents/guardians will be required to review your student’s data during our summer Back-To-School Online Check-In process. Any family who knows a student will not be returning for the next school year should notify your school’s main office staff.
ROBINWOOD PTO FAMILY GAME NIGHT
February 3, 2023
6-8 PM
Join other Robinwood families for a night of fun and games!
Click HERE to sign up to volunteer or to let us know what game(s) you would like to share for the night!
During game night, families will rotate to a different game every 20-30 minutes. The goal is to give everyone a chance to learn new games and play with different people, not necessarily finish an entire game. Children are required to be accompanied by an adult for this event.
Please consider signing up to bring your favorite game to share for the night or donating any games your family has outgrown for future game nights. Games can be sent to school and dropped off in the office prior to 2/3 or you can bring them to game night. Please remember to label all games with your name or “donate” for easy return of games.
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Wisconsin weather is upon us! Please make sure your son/daughter is dressed appropriately for the cold weather with hats, gloves, scarves, boots and snow pants. Snow pants and boots are required to be worn in order for students to play in the snow. However, this being Wisconsin, it can become warm and sunny by noontime. Please remind your child if they choose to remove their jacket during recess they are to be tied around their waist and not left on the playground.
The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature at 11:30 am. All students are required to go outside for recess daily unless the windchill is below zero or it is raining. If it is an outside recess day, all students must go outdoors. Please label your child's coat, hat, boots, & mittens with their name.
ROBINWOOD SNOW BAGS AVAILABLE
Robinwood has snow bags available for $8.00 each. If you would like to purchase one please send exact cash or make a check payable to Franklin Public School to the school office. These are great bags to hold snow pants, mittens, hats, boots, & any other winter gear. If you purchase a bag, the office will write your students last name on it unless you let us know otherwise. See photo below:
