From Ms. Brown's 12YO literacy class
Showing a genuine interest in other cultures is a wonderful way to gain a better understanding and perspective of the world around us. So, when secondary students at the QSI school in Muenster, Germany reached out with questions to students here at BIS, the twelve-year-old class jumped at the opportunity to share their culture. Some of the questions they asked were, “Where are the majority of your students from? How many classes do students attend each day? Is your school in a city or rural area? (Please include a picture). Do you wear school uniforms? Is there a cafeteria? What is it like living in your country? What are some popular foods in your country and what do they contain? What is something that would surprise visitors to your country?” The students of 12 YOC are delighted to share their response to QSI Munich with you, and what better place to do this, than the BIS newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading the responses.
Masks Optional For Students (except on the bus) from March 28th
The Advisory Board, with input from embassy medical officers and BIS administration, worked together to make this decision. BIS will take a measured approach to lift COVID restrictions at school. We will start with making masks optional. Should the situation continue to improve, we will gradually remove other restrictions on social distancing, seating arrangements, and campus visits. Should the COVID situation deteriorate, we will reinstate the mask policy.
If you'd like more information on the rationale behind this decision, please see the presentation below, which was adapted from the US Embassy medical officer.

Term 3 activities for students in 5YOC-10YOC
It is time to think about the activities that will begin on April 4. These activities are fun and benefit our students in many ways: socially, athletically, and academically. The staff has volunteered to teach a variety of interesting activities. A few specialists from outside of the school will be working with our students. Some of these activities have a fee for the term.
All activities have a maximum number for enrollment, based on safety and practicality issues. Students will be enrolled in an activity on a first come, first served basis until the maximum number of students for an activity is reached. If your child’s first choice activity has been closed, your child will be entered in his/her second choice.
Please fill out this form before Wednesday, March 30. Activities will begin on Monday, April 4 and run through Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
If you have any questions, please contact the school’s secretary, Ms. Gunay, or Mrs. Holmquist.
**You need to put in your child's name and age group in order for their activity choices to generate**
